"All the world's a stage," and therefore fair game for snarky comments.
Musician, craftsperson, who rejects the idea that some people's lives are more valuable than others (religion, gender, heritage, appearance, etc.)
Also, I doubt the government's ability to address unjust treatment of such differences without Electoral Reform.
I understand just enough about tech that I don't let the way it actually works get in the way of my jokes.

I've been realizing lately how much the Ramones share with Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Beach Boys, et al. (Applies to some other punk bands as well.) I'm not used to thinking of punk as "retro" for the time they were active.

That is a reasonable response, which for some damaged people in power, doesn't come into play.

I recently discovered that short/med brown rice is my favorite.
Based on a recent US grocery store purchase, they have also found a way to make long/extra long grain white rice as bland and pointless as the short (medium.) I think the only genuinely "short" grain rice we have over here is specifically for risotto, and available only in small (and expensive) quantities.
Basmati/Jasmine are the winners for white rice, though!

If my calculations are correct, that gives a value of roughly 4.08 for pi.

@ProPublica@newsie.social The whole industry is in a horrendous state. My info may be a few years out of date, but the turnover in truckers is enormous--it even exceeded 100% at one point (lots of retirements, etc. that weren't offset by new drivers.)
About half of truckers on the road have less than one year experience. That should change your expectations of driving near semis!
Many new drivers receive negative paychecks, since the cost of the their shiny new rig outweighs what they earn through driving.

I was going to mention the possibility of an OS level preference--which MS beat us too anyway, except for being able to change it!
The counter-argument you bring up feels like shifting the formatting/no-formatting divide from the paste operation to the copy operation. The preferences still hold--but, honestly? I think I would rather have a "copy with formatting" option, and leave "paste" out of it.

One could say the same about using shift-paste for formatted copy. Manually duplicating the formatting isn't the other option here, it's which group gets the unadulterated keyboard shortcut. I vote for the more frequently used (and simpler) operation (no formatting), as copying with formatting is still a big time-saver compared to he alternative, even with a third key in the mix.

Quite honestly, I've never seen houses that didn't need either active heating or cooling (or both.)
I'm aware of some clever designs, like Roman/Spanish villas (and igloos for that matter), but nothing modern. Are there some I'm missing out on?

Ah neat! Thanks for sharing that. I wasn't aware that Passive House was a specific term. I'm all for seeing more of these, but I let go of hope for living in one. As it is, the "new" house I'm in is only 60 years old instead of 140.
I imagine careful design is necessary with such airtightness, considering potential for CO2 buildup.
(It's also seems there's some leeway in the passive vs active terminology that added to my confusion. "Passive" can still use >0 energy.)
