@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu How can you complain about platforms not being private and secure when you push for #chatcontrol and #ageverification that forces everyone to share absurd amounts of personal info?

@miquel@dice.camp @kielkontrovers@norden.social @_elena@mastodon.social Wow... Why am I working my ass off writing code when I could be out there copying open source projects and slapping a new logo on them? 🤯

If you live in the #EU and like #privacy, you should know that the ECI "Stop killing the internet" is now live and collecting signatures!
It's not as radical as I would have liked, but better than nothing.

@alice@lgbtqia.space I haven't dated in a long time, but based on memory:
- I would have wanted to selecting dealbreakers and never be shown people who had chosen those as traits. For example, if I'm deadly allergic to dogs, I never want to be shown dog owners. If I'm a vegan and don't want to date meat eaters, don't waste my time with mest eaters.
- I don't want to post a lot of pictures to be shared with people I haven't matched with.

@infobeautiful@vis.social I've known all of these for the past 15 years but unfortunately the thing I enjoy about sushi is eating the ginger with my sushi pieces. And I haven't been blessed with a large enough mouth to be able to gracefully eat a whole sushi piece in one bite. So, naturally I feel super awkward about eating sushi in public and definitely overthink it. Am I the asshole?

@syntaxxor@sk.girlthi.ng @still@infosec.exchange The main thing that makes installing Linux a pain is having to disable secure boot in bios, which I don't know if any Linux implementation could really simplify? But other than that, there's an installer for "everything" these days

@stux@mstdn.social Exactly! "Don't give anyone online your real name, home address, social security number, birthday" was drilled into me so hard that it's difficult for me to imagine scanning my ID documents anywhere unless there's an extremely legitimate reason. I get intense scam-vibes from it! Social media, gaming or downloading an app shouldn't require the same rigor as bank KYC, and if it will then I'm out because it's no longer fun.
No to #ageverification, #VPN bans etc, and I will vote accordingly!

@pglpm@c.im @stux@mstdn.social yeah, and I mean discord was breached last year and at least 70k people had their IDs leaked!

@seq@infosec.exchange @lostgen@det.social I basically don't trust any news source that is "extreme" in any direction not to twist the truth. Afaik SvD hasn't committed to a specific political position, but they strike me as right wing and I absolutely would not trust their reporting on e.g. what EPP does to be fair or balanced.
Good on Flamman for referring to them as populist, because I think that gets at the core of what they are.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social e/OS and Graphene are both brilliant! Graphene for hardened security, e/OS for built in Tor routing (I personally just use a VPN for everything but just love the censorship resistance aspect of onion routing built in)

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu @Numerfolt@kirche.social @onepict@chaos.social asking children and adults to identify themselves online isn't to hold tech companies responsible. Let's not implement this until the app uses ZKPs and has been thoroughly tested!

@lostgen@det.social @gemmy I can't see what @gemmy said but flamman is quite far left leaning and not what I'd consider a great source. I don't doubt that the donation happened, but I disagree with calling Örebropartiet "far right". They're extremely populist and anti-immigration as well as anti-authority, anti-establishment etc, and their leader usually puts things in the most abrasive ways possible (probably to create reactions).

@kalviter@hol.ogra.ph @openrightsgroup@social.openrightsgroup.org I have been wondering about this, why isn't moderation discussed more? I feel like I've seen automoderation in e.g. game chats for at least 15-20 years

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu As a queer person, I can get behind this message!
But again, as a queer person, you are in the process of creating an awful situation with the #ageverification laws. Teens should be able to access information about LGBTQ+ topics without even fearing that it might be logged and tied to their ID. This is one of the many reasons why IF the #EUDI wallet needs to exist at all, ZKPs and offline operation MUST be a requirement and the standard before release - safety by technical design!

@rawenwolf@meow.social @mullvadnet@mastodon.online How do we expect to solve it? Theoretically, I could prove that I'm above 18 by showing a 1*1cm photo of my forehead. Or a photo of my ID after I physically covered everything but my birth year. Or a short video of my hands holding a note with a specific code given by the verifier. Or a receipt from a recent purchase of alcohol/tobacco. It's just that politicians prefer that I send all my ID info and regular biometric scans to their favorite third parties. Because reasons.

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu as a queer person, I will say this again: online anonymity is what allows many of us to stay safe. If you cared about queers, you wouldn't outlaw online privacy through invasive #ageverification requirements
