I just lost my job today, so here we go..
I'm a ~30 years Sysadmin/DevOps/Server Shepard/Graybeard whatever its called now UNIX nerd.
Looking for work doing UNIX'y stuff. I mostly do automation, and have avoided working with AI and Kubernetes (though I have a bit of k8s experience at two jobs, I just prefer "the old way")
Chef, Puppet, Cfengine, Ansible, Shell scripts, etc.
I've built Linux distributions, and automation tools. Having worked at Redhat, TurboLinux, Penguin Computing, Salesforce, and Chef.
Built and maintained monitoring systems, checks, and lived the on-call life.
Built and managed CI systems, and Pipelines.
I've written and maintained software in Ruby, Python, and Shell. I've dabbled in just about every other programming language you'll find on a UNIX system.
I have spent a lot of time with *BSD, Solaris, IRIX, and Linux, and to a lesser extent HPUX, and AIX.
If its sysadmin work on a UNIX, I've likely done it.

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org yesss the best stance for work and mobile phones is, if they aren't providing the hardware they aren't getting access. Would hate for some corporate profile change to wipe out/reset to default or change my settings on my personal device.
If it's important enough that you need to be reached after hours they should provide the hardware and pay accordingly.

I have to say, one of the things I am looking forward to is not having my ex wife queue up the show and running me out of the room.

As a transgender lefty, I like to bring up the innate feeling of handedness to explain 'gay vs straight' and 'trans vs cis' but I'll often get yelled at by other transgender people because it kinda says that "you have to feel a certain way to be trans" (which, I don't believe, live your life how you want).
But to get cisgender straight people to understand and relate its a helpful example. "How do you know you're right handed?" and "How does it feel when you use your left hand?" are great questions to get people to think and relate. I think its _much_ better than "How do you know you're straight?"

I added another item to the project pile for $30 this weekend. Denon LA-2300 Laserdisc Player, with Power supply issues, and 4 LD's.. I'm sure a local electronics nerd I know can fix it though.

@jonshell@mastodon.energy @MsMerope@sfba.social @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org To me this is one of those issues where employees have power that they do not use out of fear of losing their job. So much is tied to employment, and so many people live paycheck to paycheck. The sooner people start standing up to the c-suite, and unionizing the sooner things will improve.
"The system works for them."

And if a double-decker bus crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten ton truck kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org That's a fun album! I think I have ~6 Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass albums at this point and they are all _solid_.
A friend of mine has definitely said that they love the album but that the cover art would prevent them from ever buying it.
(yes they grew up embedded in religion; I think its quite tame).

@drbrain@mastodon.social @darth@silversword.online my desktop and laptops run OpenBSD, I have a Linux nuc for work dev, my at home infra runs on OpenBSD, and OpenWRT. I of course have a work Mac book that gets used sometimes when I'm having a zoom issues, but it's mostly ignored.

Its very far removed from being a "BSD". Yes it shares some common history, components, and libraries. It doesn't feel as cohesive or friendly as any of the other BSD's.
I've had a macbook with OSX/etc since ~2001 and at first they definitely filled the niche that Linux didn't which was a nice UNIX'y laptop with working hibernate, wireless, and cd writing capabilities. Its gone downhill over the years with constant changes in look, feel, and underlying system. It doesn't feel like "its gotten more polished over time". Every release feels disjointed.
As far as certification goes..
