Hundreds of thousands of people joined coordinated pro-Palestine marches worldwide on Saturday to condemn Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza and stand with Palestinians living under Israeli apartheid in the occupied West Bank. The Global Alliance for Palestine said the mobilisation involved at least 325 events worldwide, including 176 in Europe alone. Organisers estimated that around 250,000 people joined the London march. Demonstrators carried signs demanding the “end” of Israel’s genocide and declaring “Free Palestine” as they marched towards the British parliament. https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/global-protests-demand-end-israels-genocide-and-apartheid #solidarity #stopgenocide #zionismIsRacism #gaza #palestine #Europe #UK #London #protest @palestine@fedibird.com @palestine@a.gup.pe Marchers observed a two-minute silence for the more than 74,370 Palestinians Israel has killed in Gaza since October 2023. Its attacks have wounded at least 175,371 others.

Europe can’t talk about strategic autonomy while still importing Russian LNG or working with Rosatom. Energy dependence on an aggressor is not policy - is an expensive strategic mistake, and you all know this. 💎 We must end all russian energy imports, close loopholes, and diversify. #Ukraine #europeanUnion #Uk #eu #europe #France #Deutschland #Denmark #sweden #usa #news

Europe’s AI demand could set off nuclear energy boom, says JP Morgan The EU’s goal of ramping up data centre capacity is already driving more investment in nuclear energy projects as the bloc seeks to decarbonise and secure energy security at the same time, says the global investment firm.

TL;DR:

  1. Flávio Bolsonaro: 47.03% (56.1 million votes)
  2. Lula: 45.16% (53.9 million votes)

The result was much better for the far right than I expected. It’s now very difficult to see Bolsonaro losing the second round.

My feeling that we were heading for a repeat of 2018 was right. At least this time, it won’t come as a surprise.

Prepare for an Americas increasingly dominated by the right and far right.

Europe may soon find itself as one of the last major strongholds of liberal democracy, until the far right takes power in France and/or Germany, which increasingly seems to be the direction we’re heading.
