Scammers are creating accounts on this server and others pretending to be administrators, trying to trick people into clicking malware or phishing links. These messages are often under the pretense of "verifying your account". They are all bogus, and dangerous.
If you receive or even see a message like this, whether it's coming from Masto.NYC or any other server, please report it immediately. The only Masto.NYC admin or news accounts are @jmac@masto.nyc, @seano@masto.nyc, and @warren@masto.nyc. (That's me!)

@gbargoud@masto.nyc You can indeed set your Mastodon account to auto-delete your posts after a ceratin time limit! https://fedi.tips/deleting-posts-automatically-in-mastodon-after-a-certain-time-period/
But rest assured that it's not local users' content that fills up our hard drive—it's *everyone else’s*. The fediverse is a big place!
We admins need to automate some regular cleanup of all that fetched remote data, is all.
