@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems A bear is a doggo (caniformia), but it is not a dog (Canidae).
Dispatches from the neighborhood email list:
"We have seen a black dog eating our garbage a couple of times. He growled at us when we approached. Does anyone know whose dog this is?"
That's a bear, Paul. A bear.

My dirty secret is that I kind of liked the old Xcode project format and would fairly regularly edit them by hand in the past. Alas.
Quoting
I don't think I ever swear on social media, but this one is worth it: holy shit! A JSON-based project format for Xcode! 🤯

My greatest challenge as a parent is discouraging my in-laws from buying too many knock-off "LEGO" sets from Amazon, which are generally nearly impossible to assemble and result in a very tearful evening with the five year old.

@mattiem@mastodon.social @wigging@fosstodon.org yep, paste defaults to preserving style.
Set up a theme with the formatting you want in Xcode, copy and paste into Keynote. That way you can make sure it compiles anyway.

@wigging@fosstodon.org @mattiem@mastodon.social agree to disagree. I get the appeal, but IMO it’s always better to write your code snippets in an actual code editor so you can check that they compile and work correctly and so you can have a single source of truth for highlighting.
Especially because in some languages highlighting correctly may depend on language version, what modules/headers are imported, etc. You’d end up with Keynote maintaining a bunch of language frontends to do it right.
(There are lots of cheap syntax highlighting hacks in the world that don’t do this and they all get stuff wrong to some extent. I’ll let the IDE get it right.)
