@AskPippa if it’s an iPhone it will via iMessage. Android there will be a setting that will allow text via wifi, that needs to be verified by your existing provider.
Wifi calling would use the eSIM or a wifi network you happen to be connected to
@nopatience I have my own Nextcloud instance hosted in my basement. It’s Talk module has the Chat/Video features. File sharing is baked in, and calendars app available as well. Seems to work well from my single user uses, I’m sure it would work well for a small team.
@mttaggart@infosec.exchange That has been their stated intention, so I would not be surprised that’s where this is going. When’s that AI bubble gonna burst?
@AskPippa Not specific to Australia, but if it’s an iPhone you might have good luck with an eSIM like saily.
Enabling wifi calling and iPhone uses iMessaging on the backend so you can be contacted through your usual number. Going to be cheaper than your usual provider as well
@SecurityWriter@infosec.exchange oh, not having any reason to look previously... Linux Mint Cinnamon has it baked in apparently, just needs to be enabled
