#MayDay #BlackMastodon #BlackFedi #BlackTwitter

My daughter (who is grown) said her friends did not know about the general strike called for this Friday, May 1st. She was shocked by that. Let me do my bit and remind people that a general strike is happening Friday. General means its for everyone. Did you march in a #NoKingsDay? Well now it's time to up your game. Check Indivisible for events in your area. In Washington DC we'll all be at the Washington Monument. https://indivisible.org/campaigns/may-day-participation-guide/

Replying to

@heidilifeldman@mastodon.social I find this ludicrous. Local news covered the liner fiasco before Hearn touched the pool. In last week's local reporting they stated that one witness in the grand jury specifically said the pool liner was already damaged and they couldn't say for a fact that Hearn made it worse. That's why his lawyers wanted the judge to look at the grand jury transcripts.

#NationalGuard #DC # #Michhigan #Minnesota #BlackMastodon #BlackFedi #BlackTwitter The National Guard is still occupying DC against the will of the residents here. We were terribly disturbed and stunned to learn 3 Democratic governors sent fresh troops to DC. Michigan and Minnesota are 2 of the 3. If you live or have ties to either state we are asking you to email your governors and ask them to withdraw their troops from DC. I won't be on line for a week or so but go to freedcproject.org/guard.

@DeliaChristina@sfba.social Agree so deeply with your comment. In the old days an investigative journalist would have donned a nurse's uniform and gone into the dang hospital room. @airadam@mastodon.me.uk We went to Curacao some years back. Photo opportunities are all over the place, particularly, I think its on the way to the city center where you can see all the multi-colored houses in a row. For food I recommend you try an Indonesian (the Dutch colonized Indonesia also) eating experience called "rijjsttafel" which means rice table. it's a number of small dishes across the savory/sweet divide. Don't know which restaurant is best now, but definitely try to find it.

Want to know where cities can get the money to pay for healthcare, childcare, housing, food security? We can stop paying out millions in taxpayer dollars for police misconduct. There's a book appearing on many lists of new sci-fi to look out for. The title is ALCHEMISED by SenLin Yu. Interesting (and long 900+ pages) story of a society where alchemy rules between two warring factions. IMO there should be a very noticeable CW warning on the book. VERY detailed and repeated descriptions of torture and also extended abuse of women. People triggered by violence should pass this one.
