@pecet@f3d1.eu It's all about preference and comfort. I like Promxox for my self-hosting and I have TrueNAS set up for my media server storage. I haven't used OMV in a long time, but sometimes it's just nice to have an interface to deal with (if that's your thing)

@wikiyu@infosec.exchange security threats are a lot higher these days than they were back in the day so it's important that developers keep their apps as secure as possible. I will say, though, that it's frustrating to get multiple updates in a single day because a dev keeps adding features and makes a new release for each feature
