@catileptic Dear telecomshop, since you are not willing to fulfil my order, I am now cancelling it and ordering from your competitor instead. Have a nice day.

@SmudgeTheInsultCat I'm driving somewhere in a film. I always find a spot to park right in front of my destination. 😎

@lproven@social.vivaldi.net I strongly agree that an update of the "Raspberry Pi Desktop" for x86 PCs would be very welcome. I have an old notebook PC which I only use when travelling. It works great with RPD, but I worried that was getting too old, so put a newer Debian on it. This led to great difficulty with WiFi etc., so now I have reinstalled RPD.

@mxchara@seattle.pink It's actually "The *love* of money is the root of all evil" - https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/1-Timothy-6-10/
As Richard Murphy eloquently explains - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRUKvVfM0tM - money can be a useful mechanism for organising human cooperation, the big mistake is to start thinking it has value independently from that.
What if economics has been asking the wrong question?

@woe2you @babe If it's a BMW you will probably find that you can't just buy the indicator, it only comes as part of an integrated unit so you have to replace the whole wing, the part has to be ordered from Germany and will take three weeks to arrive, and together with fitting will cost you more than the whole car is worth. 😒

@gmh@mastodon.social Hmm, I've just got iOS 26.4, I have not done age verification, but I can turn off "Share my location". 🤔

@gmh@mastodon.social I don't know why it's different, just reporting my experience. The phone is nagging me to verify my age, which I don't intend to do, my Apple account is not old enough to bypass that.

@cstross@wandering.shop Wow, somebody actually found a worthwhile application of CMake!
(When I was programming professionally I sometimes had to wrangle with CMake. I never understood what problem it was trying to solve) 🤔

@rhamph@awful.systems @EFreethought@awful.systems I’m glad I retired from professional software development just before LLMs came on the scene. Now I program the old-fashioned way as a hobby.
However I recently was sent an ai-generated report of bugs and vulnerabilities in one of my projects and I have to admit that it is genuinely useful.

@gnome@floss.social This is great, but for some people in some situations switching away from windows may not be practical. In such cases it may be worth considering paying EUR25/yr for third-party extended support - https://blog.0patch.com/2024/06/long-live-windows-10-with-0patch.html Note that this does not require reinstalling everything, which is needed if you take the Windows LTSC route. 💻

@Crell@phpc.social Agree 99%, except with "SQLite Replaces Redis". Yes, you can do caching with SQLite, but I also do interprocess (or even intermachine) messaging through Redis using RPUSH/BLPOP on lists. I don't think there's any SQLite equivalent to this. You give an example of "SQLite as a Queue" but AFAICS if the queue is empty the receiver will need to keep polling it. With BLPOP in Redis the receiver just waits and gets woken up when a message becomes available.
