mastodon 4.8.0-nightly.2026-10-06Never on the bird site, but when I heard about Mastodon I thought it would be for old fossils like me, so I joined. Happy to be here as it is a very #Canadian space, warm and friendly. After doing some thinking turns out I’m a devout #atheist. This got me thinking about how churches are subsidized in #Canada, so now I’m going to do something about it. Getting back into print making this fall, the studio is almost finished, look for an anti-dogma series when the studio is up and running.

@sundogplanets@mastodon.social clearly you’re missing the point, the company doesn’t need to be successful for the founders to become multimillionaires. It just needs to sound feasible enough to fool the VCs so they can pay themselves ridiculous amounts of money and then ‘fail’ for a few years. Then they declare bankruptcy and walk away with all that money.

@mattblaze@federate.social too bad there isn’t a ‘central asshole list’ where folks could post to so we could see their harassment and collectively we could all block them

@sundogplanets @astrokiwi.bsky.social too bad it costs money to ‘publish’ in those junk journals, it would be a great way to screw up the AI scrappers.

@Canadian_Eh@mas.to that would have been from Arrowleaf, sadly they have discontinued it due to the low yields when I told them I still had 5 bottles they offered to swap for some of their other product.

@jmaris@eupolicy.social the #us is whining about #canada blocking their liquor as if it some strategic commodity. Block all #us liquor

@Canadian_Eh@mas.to its great living here. It’s easy to do the self pick route and have areal connection to where your food comes from.
@ZebKing I’ve been unsuccessful trying to get folks to move over.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange so is the answer to eliminating our( #canada ) #us dependency to set up parallel structures in all of our countries? What has #russia done .

@Amgine @Npars01 hi here’s some recent statistics data supporting the high First Nations teenage pregnancy rate from statistics Canada
https://publications.gc.ca/site/archivee-archived.html?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpublications.gc.ca%2Fcollections%2Fcollection_2013%2Faadnc-aandc%2FR3-171-2012-eng.pdf
Here is a link to the OECD teenage pregnancy rates where you be able to see the number of ‘less developed’ countries that have substantially lower teenage pregnancy rates than First Nations. This pregnancy rate drastically negatively impacts a number of the outcomes in the Calls to Action. If you want I can map all of those impacted.

@avilewis why don’t we just support the Coop option? They are already have a workable model. We also need to build the supply chain otherwise the profit extraction will occur upstream from retail.

@CatherineBabault congratulations that is such an honour to be selected and to have your work presented there.

@Tweakedenigma @avilewis I agree we need intervention all the way along the supply chain. One of unintended outcomes of legislation for mad cow disease was tighter slaughter house regulations that forced a number of small operations to close resulting in industry concentration.
I wonder why there isn’t a blue state movement to tell the red states they their isn’t anything they need from them and just choke of the tax subsidies to the red states?

@mattblaze@federate.social the comment about what side to drive on brought back the memory of the US diplomate’s wife who killed someone on the road in the UK and then was whisked to safety in the US so she couldn’t be prosecuted.
