'Most of the UK media stories about the record-breaking heatwave that struck in June failed to mention the climate crisis, analysis has found.' 'Nearly 2,500 articles about the extreme heat – when temperatures topped 37C, a record for the time of year – appeared in the UK’s nine main national daily media publications. But nearly three-quarters of them – about 72% – left out any mention of global heating or the climate'. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/jul/14/most-coverage-june-heatwave-did-not-mention-climate-crisis #ClimateCrisis #NoPipelines #NoLNG #ExtremeWeather #Drought #Wildfires

"Prime Minister Carney’s plan to sell more oil overseas won’t make life more affordable at home. Instead of tackling the climate crisis and investing in the solutions of the future that Canadians need, he is doubling down on costly fossil fuel infrastructure that will only make life harder for Canadians." https://ecojustice.ca/news/ecojustice-another-pipeline-proposal-at-the-expense-of-climate-and-nature/ #Canada #CDNPoli #ClimateCrisis #NoPipelines #BCPoli #ABPoli #ExtremeWeather #Heatwaves #Drought #Flooding

Another pipeline proposal at the expense of climate and nature

One of America’s largest reservoirs just hit a record low

Lake Powell has fallen to its lowest level on record after an exceptionally dry and warm winter left the Colorado River Basin with little mountain snow to melt. Lake Mead also reached record lows, raising concerns for a river system that supplies water and power to more than 40 million people. Federal officials have taken emergency steps to stabilize Lake Powell, including sending in water from another reservoir and reducing releases downstream.
