'Most of the UK media stories about the record-breaking heatwave that struck in June failed to mention the climate crisis, analysis has found.' 'Nearly 2,500 articles about the extreme heat – when temperatures topped 37C, a record for the time of year – appeared in the UK’s nine main national daily media publications. But nearly three-quarters of them – about 72% – left out any mention of global heating or the climate'. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/jul/14/most-coverage-june-heatwave-did-not-mention-climate-crisis #ClimateCrisis #NoPipelines #NoLNG #ExtremeWeather #Drought #Wildfires

David Suzuki Foundation: "Carney’s taxpayer-funded pipeline will cause climate and economic chaos" "People in Canada are paying the price — struggling with affordability and suffering through extreme heat — as this government treats yesterday’s fossil economy as the only economic strategy on the table. The rest of the world is racing to benefit from the clean-energy economy by swapping dirty fossil fuels for renewables, batteries and technologies powered by electricity." https://davidsuzuki.org/press/carneys-taxpayer-funded-pipeline-will-cause-climate-and-economic-chaos/ #Canada #CDNPoli #ClimateCrisis #CostOfLivingCrisis #ExtremeWeather #Heatwave #BCPoli #ABPoli #NoPipelines

"Prime Minister Carney’s plan to sell more oil overseas won’t make life more affordable at home. Instead of tackling the climate crisis and investing in the solutions of the future that Canadians need, he is doubling down on costly fossil fuel infrastructure that will only make life harder for Canadians." https://ecojustice.ca/news/ecojustice-another-pipeline-proposal-at-the-expense-of-climate-and-nature/ #Canada #CDNPoli #ClimateCrisis #NoPipelines #BCPoli #ABPoli #ExtremeWeather #Heatwaves #Drought #Flooding

While one Greenpeace campaigner says the legislation grants cabinet ‘unchecked discretion’ to circumvent environmental laws, for CSG Senator Clément Gignac, it’s ‘a very large positive step in the right direction’ for the economy.

"… in the face of clear evidence of current harm and the substantial likelihood of growing harm in the future, the prudent thing to do would be to reduce fossil fuel use as rapidly and as soon as possible. To fail to do so, and indeed to support fossil fuel expansion through continuing subsidies, weakening of regulations and ongoing private and public investment amounts to reckless disregard." "Clearly the expansionary actions of the fossil fuel industry, governments and private and public sector investors, in Canada and around the world, amount to ecocide." https://www.hilltimes.com/2026/09/24/fossil-fuel-expansion-is-ecocide-a-crime-against-nature-and-humanity/519219/ #Canada #CDNPoli #BCPoli #NoPipelines #ClimateCrisis #Ecocide #BillC39

The expansionary actions of the fossil-fuel industry, governments and private and public-sector investors, in Canada and around the world, amount to ecocide. While not yet technically a crime, their actions are morally unacceptable.

Althia Raj: Mark Carney is squandering the Liberals’ advantage on climate change

This summer, polling from the Angus Reid Institute found some climate-conscious Liberal voters were migrating to the NDP. But with U.S. President Donald Trump threatening Canada, it’s clear Carney has an open road to diversify the Canadian economy as he wishes.
