@faithisleaping@anarres.family You’re right there, images have a much different effect on me. It’s less controlled because I know I can’t take in everything all at once but with text I have a pretty good handle on where things are going. You made me think of the movie Stalker (1979) where even as I was watching it I knew I wanted to see it again to get more from it. There’s no reason to gatekeep art and tell people their thing is better because of the medium. It’s better to just let everyone have what works for them.

@faithisleaping@anarres.family I won’t say better but I will say different. Books take way more time and you have to step away between sessions. For me, words hit more often than visuals and I love a good turn of phrase. Or breadcrumb writing that comes together after weeks of reading a novel. Again, it’s subjective but I think reading is the closest way to inhabit someone else’s consciousness that we have. Audiobooks exist too and are totally different for me. Hearing lines voiced and intoned can open up totally different meaning than what I get from my monotone in my head reader voice. But I also love movies! Good art is good art!
