Objectification::
this / self
finally got a moment to insert openbsd onto an old ppc mac mini, with a window manager no less... a child-scaringly primitive window manager, and now i'm slapping emacs onto it. poor thing's hammering away like a maniac - one whole 1.4ghz processor 💪🏻

You're a terrorist, I'm a terrorist, anyone not overtly fascist-sympathetic is a terrorist. In fact, it seems that anyone except the terrorists in the white house are terrorists.
it's long past time to fight back!

And not just any old “people” but the current maintainers are doing this nonsense!
Cool cool. I think (personally) if i was more organised/it was less of a dance, i'd be all-in on most if not all of my boxes with guix (i find scheme as a config language less brain-wrongy than nix on NixOS - although apparently that's the one with all the cool kids these days /shrugs/)

That looks excellent! BTW the link has an extra comma which might need fixing 😉

I vote we move directly to their dispossession instead.

@danilo@hachyderm.io "decision making culture" cracked me up - made me think back to june/july '23 where Credit Suisse (yes, that CS!) had posters up around Zürich plugging their new Women's Football NFTs.
😂

I had no idea there was one. Good to know! Not sure it’s the app itself though. Think the slab itself ☹️
It’s all getting a bit moody
I’m going to have to get used to non-spicy breakfasts again now, aren’t I? ☹️
computer networks hey 🤬

I want to see more of this kind of thing
You doing that on a physical box or a VM? Always had *such* fun with bare metal, to the point where I go “ok this is fine as avm” and do that instead. 32MB swap is a bit oof though (on holiday r/n so difficult to advise further but it should be relatively easy to set up an adequate swap partition (or just use a swap file instead?))

Recently started fooling around with squeak & cuis after a ~18 year gap (ruby instead) and was immediately reminded that the immediacy and interactivity (and the ease of exploration of the system) made it _so much more_ fun than literally everything else i’ve been fooling with in the intervening time (even Lisp!). This is the computer I wish I had as a teen 40+ years ago (and given the development in the meantime, it’s much more doable now)
I am enjoying this idea of surveilling the glowing ball of hate

not just FF, to be honest, but titkok doesn't really count as a useful app. Have done all the right adminy things. I guess it's slowly croaking.
Iphone still on 18.whatever but.. firefox now regularly collapses. Only me, or occurs for others too?
hilarious and genius

@festal@tldr.nettime.org Finally, some good news from somewhere! Thanks, that's awesome.
Ho ho we just managed to find the single piss-taking tuk-tuk driver in Negombo
Yet to test the exploit (or even examine it for more than 10s) but apparently it’s bad. Targets crypto subsystem of linux kernel. Let’s have a big “farking Yay!” now

I’d like to give the road traffic of Colombo, Sri Lanka a special shoutout for a level of absolute mayhem I don’t recall seeing since London before the congestion-charging started. Kudos, you mad mad bastards. Special mention for all the tuk-tuk drivers who pestered us for custom too. Every 30s 🥴

No, it wasn’t - I still can & do Ruby (but it’s no longer my dayjob language, sadly, just “on the side/keeping my hand in” for some personal sites), and Lisp is fun too (especially full systems like Medly etc), but Smalltalk is the one that really makes me smile, NGL.
Saw a video of a Huawei Matebook Fold and thought “haha fms that looks hilarious” then checked the price in expensiveland and “haha fms maybe not” - also know nothing about harmonyOS or how secure or otherwise it is
