I never had a console and for decades I did not had a thought like why I have a console what do not have a MOUSE?!!
Like, imagine playing Dune 2 with that classic console controller (pressing circle on left, 4 buttons abcd on the right, and few buttons on sides).
How you would play a quest type of game such as legends of Kyrandia with such controller?
Or Warcraft games? or SimCity series?
If console would got something giving mouse-like experience, it would open consoles to many genres from strategy to point-and-click quests or even games like “slasher RPG” where you point with mouse where your character would go to or which monster to sahs slash into through enemies, which moster to slash, or where to go.
I remember times when it was possible buy a disk with game for PC.
Regarding laptops in shop, they are mostly with windows here or with some “stub like thing” named “PC DOS”. It just used to say “we selling a laptop that works”. Linux laptops are very rare here where I live. and that PC-dos stub exactly is a thing to say “you can install your favorite pirated windows for free here”. Of course such devices a bit cheaper than devices with windows preinstalled and it is their main point usually.
It is very rare thing to see a laptop in shop even with Ubuntu preinstalled.
