A friendly reminder: Don't be afraid of #Linux #rootkits.
I have just released version 0.3.0 of rk-expose, a modern self-contained #rootkit detection tool that uses several techniques to detect signs of process hiding, file hiding, file content tampering from kernel or user space and can be used for hunting in large, diverse environments. rk-expose is written in #Rust.
Notable changes include:
Clearer output formatGeneric improvements to process hiding detection to avoid false positivesImprovements to cgroupfs process hiding detectionsA Velociraptor artifactAn "auto" subcommand that runs checks using sensible defaults and interprets results

@bicycletting@mastodon.ie Even if it is possible to learn from generated code (I believe it is, provided you bring along some programming experience and general good taste), it makes little sense to go through code review rituals to do so. I think what @jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net meant was that the reviewer is supposed to teach the author, not the other way around.

@mttaggart@infosec.exchange kill and timeout missing is particularly funny, given the intended uses-cases. (Claude Code seems to like using timeout to run tests that may contain infinite loops.)

OpenAI write to tell me that they want to help me put together vocabulary lessons. I suppose this means that we're not getting that artificial superintelligence that's going to do away with those foreign language pains any time soon.
