Trying to reimplement Heroes of Might & Magic V engine... Still a lot of work left #gamedev #heroesofmightandmagic #homm #heroesv

Progress! Player character sprite composition and animations are working now! #opendivine #gamedev

@tinker@infosec.exchange It's simply not feasible for a project of such scale to remain AI-free anymore. There's no going back, whether you like it or not.

@koen@procolix.social FWIW in Docker there's an experimental nftables backend now: https://docs.docker.com/engine/network/firewall-nftables Give it a try!

@pluszysta@mastodon.online nawet Ci do profilowego pasuje

@jacqueline@chaos.social You’re absolutely right to be frustrated — and honestly, this is a symptom of a much larger shift in the industry. On one hand, AI tools can genuinely accelerate tedious work; on the other hand, when people outsource judgment itself, especially in code review, you get this bizarre ouroboros where one model-generated blob is being reviewed by another model-generated blob, with humans acting as paste buffers. And that’s the real issue: code review is not supposed to be “does this sound plausible?” It’s supposed to be about intent, correctness, maintainability, tradeoffs, failure modes, and shared understanding. If two maintainers are just laundering LLM output through each other — em dashes, vague praise, generic “consider extracting this into a helper” comments and all — then yeah, that’s not engineering. That’s ritualized autocomplete. The industry has not become a joke because LLMs exist. It becomes a joke when people use them to avoid thinking, then pretend the output is expertise. A useful AI-assisted review looks like: “Here are three edge cases this diff may break; I checked the call sites; this test is missing; this naming obscures the invariant.” Garbage AI-assisted review looks like: “Great work! One minor suggestion — you might want to consider improving readability.” That’s not review. That’s incense. So the line is simple: use tools to sharpen human judgment, not replace it with syntactic confidence. If nobody in the loop understands the code better after the review, nothing meaningful happened.

@spoofy@mastodon.com.pl well put! Glad to hear I'm not the only one finding apparmor better. I think SELinux makes sense for something like Android where the user is not expected to step outside it's userspace world. Anyway I was sad to see SUSE changing the default...

Anyone still deliberately using AppArmor in OpenSUSE instead of SELinux? #linux #opensuse

please stop making CLI apps in NodeJS thanks #nodejs #programming

@eniko@mastodon.gamedev.place daggerfall vibes, love it

@dolanor@hachyderm.io Nice! I actually I started my thing already with g3n but wasn't very happy with it being OpenGL only. I was hoping to learn some Vulkan or WebGPU stuff but the only thing I found was https://github.com/gogpu/g3d (which seems to be a placeholder for now), and its lower level component https://github.com/gogpu/wgpu But I realized I don't have that much time on my hands to go THAT deep. And I did some OpenGL in the past so I think I'll stay with g3n

@wibblyfrog@mastodon.social ah I should try out Odin. I've heard about it a lot but never did anything with it!

@jacqueline@chaos.social sorry couldn't help myself

@jacqueline@chaos.social i will put it somewhere on my backlog of threats

@nuclearplayer@fosstodon.org the funny part is that it's to make the web "agentic" Looks like humans are no longer considered first class citizens on the web!

Fellow #gamedev Linux folks What's your stack for making 3D games excluding full engines like Godot or Unity? Anyone had any success with #golang #go?

@Orb2069@mastodon.online @jacqueline@chaos.social sorry, my post was just a tongue-in-cheek LLM slop answer

@przmk@fosstodon.org not yet, just starting out, still need to sort some things out before going public It will definitely happen though!

@AubreyDeLosDestinos@101010.pl widzę podobieństwo

@pawelgrzybek@mastodon.social this is nice!

@Ortie@corneill.es no, but there IS something wrong with me, and I grew up not knowing it

@golang@hachyderm.io the pre-announcement mentioned 2 CVEs though! ☺️ Curious if that was just a mistake or did they get included after?

@Crell@phpc.social We were discussing design for the idmapped bind mounts and are now fleshing out the implementation: https://github.com/moby/moby/issues/2259#issuecomment-5285722027 (and the comment below) Feel free to leave your comment there!

Finally collisions working as expected! https://github.com/vvoland/opendivine/releases/tag/v0.0.2 #opendivine

@0x0961h@mastodon.gamedev.place how do you rate compilation speed?

@dawid@social.craftknight.com Zig też dawno temu próbowałem ale brak dobrego LSP skutecznie mnie wtedy odepchnął. Muszę sobie kiedyś ogarnąć jak to współcześnie wygląda

@Crell@phpc.social next release (29.9.0) will have something nice for you!

Suddenly my rtw89_8852ae stopped connecting to 5 GHz network (2.4 Ghz works fine). Auth just timeouts, the router doesn't even see the auth request. It's probably easier to just buy a proper Intel AX than to try to debug this #linux
