Almost half of European freshwater fishes at risk of extinction, new IUCN Red List reveals

The updated European Red List of Freshwater Fishes – the most comprehensive assessment in 15 years – reveals little evidence of species recovery and calls for urgent action to protect Europe’s aquatic biodiversity.Nearly six in ten native European freshwater fish species are now of elevated conservation concern, according to the assessment, which evaluated all 558 native species. The findings show that 42% are threatened with extinction, while an additional 18% are classified as Near Threatened.

@Natasha_Jay@tech.lgbt There's an episode of Fireman Sam where Norman Price gets stuck on a mountain cliff with Woolly the lamb and they have to be rescued. Given that this TV series was produced in Wales, sheep on mountain cliffs seem like a recurring theme in Welsh culture and mythology (I used to watch a lot of Fireman Sam when my boys were toddlers)
