watching the various articles of "omg firms are choosing not to hire 'ai literate' employees" and thinking of the very obvious future where the rest of us are going to have to catch the slack for these people and help carry them forth into the future
don't get me wrong: it's always valuable to teach juniors
but this entire goddamned coming fuckshow could've not been, and .... sigh

@Xkeeper@icosahedron.website oh holy shit you're the people! (from the thing I saw earlier)
it sounds like you may already have a handle on stuff, but shout if you want clueful eyes to look into it and see about possible assistance
(I loathe the scrapers and promptfondlers, fuck 'em all)

@mhoye@cosocial.ca counterpoint: schneier really doesn’t deserve as much of the respect (and leeway) he gets
if you go looking, the dude’s got a multi year track record of being out of touch with the now and then some-weeks-later posting some almost-correct silliness that still falls on its face
there are better voices to follow

this is one of the downsides of how much China’s managed to get its hooks in across Africa (often with industrial redevelopment and other investments)
and, frustratingly, a lot of African leaders are too chickenshit to do anything about it (our own in ZA included in this) https://mastodon.social/@anirvan/116501623999056534

if they can't recognize (gods help me) cognitohazards in production leadup, outcomes may become multiplicative quite rapidly

@aud @Andres4NY I was rather entertained some years ago when MS was hiring so many of the DevOps / infra / dev thotposters for Azure, and they all made such Excited For This Part Of My Journey noises (entertained because I suspected what was coming)
and indeed, most of them left within 12~18mo (and most _very_ quietly)
I giggled extremely frequently, and still do

they simply don’t seem to get it. that most recent “I already answered you! Why are you asking?!” post is …. well, yeah
I’m not gonna advocate punching bags, as much as I’d say: keep note of the who and what. Because that can provide rapid future devaluation where needed.
