@tao@mathstodon.xyz there is an ethical/philosophical component to the third component in particular. The food analogy it too crude here.
For a proof is only really digestible if there is a maths community consensus on it.
There are maths examples of similar situations in the pre-LLMs era: 4-colouring problem, CFSC --classification of the finite simple groups, etc.
These demonstrate indigestible proofs, with constant (although seemingly running out of steam) more or less (less in the CFSC case) successful attempts to improve their digestibility.
These also demonstrate the social side of indigestibility - CFSC declared "complete" by the main driving forces of the program, in part for reasons of finances, well ahead of real completeness resulted in the crumbling of the program.
A similar, but much larger in scale, affecting all the branches of the maths, crumbling would occur if top mathematicians started to declare maths "solved" - in exchange for being showered by grants from LLM/AI dealers. And this seems to be happening already.

@molly0xfff as soon as the "regulations" are gone, there won't be any "illegals", isn't it ? Everyone will be a sovereign citizen... 🙂

@AmenZwa same here, except that fountain pens were allowed already in the 1st year. My handwriting with most anything but a fountain pen gets impossible to read even for me after a few sentences, so texts are written with a #fountain #pen Lately it's a basic Japanese Pilot, and a bit less basic (and ready to fly, it's a pen which is closed hermetically, and so changes in air pressure don't cause leaks) Taiwanese TWSBI Vac 700.

@jonmsterling@mathstodon.xyz @ofc1996@mathstodon.xyz "new" is very subjective. Erdős didn't have many truly new ideas by any normal measure. What can count as one of half a dozen of his truly new idea is the Probabilistic Method

Disclaimer: my Erdős number is 2, in two ways (via two different publications and coauthors)

@chris108 @christianp @Colinvparker I struggle to remember what "m" in am/pm means. Midnight ? Midday? And "a" and "p". A as in "after"? P as in "past" ?
I have been to Estonia and Finland, where in summer it can be light outside at 3:00. (past midnight, or after midnight, or...)
12h time scale should be banned:-)

@MartinEscardo more precisely, networkx uses pygraphviz, and perhaps the latter alone is enough
(although networkx has all kinds of topological sort implemented)

@mayaisloading@beige.party @jaxroam@mastodon.social @mwguy@infosec.exchange @molly0xfff@hachyderm.io there's even a concept of citizen's arrest in many countries, including USA; these kids are committing a crime.
If a private citizen (usually this just means literally anyone, the citizenship doesn't matter) arrests, leave alone names, any of them, it would be perfectly legal.

@antoinechambertloir@mathstodon.xyz @jonmsterling@mathstodon.xyz @ofc1996@mathstodon.xyz Shannon basically invented information theory (where the use of the term entropy was proposed by John von Neumann).
It's indeed another side of the probabilistic method, for a different purpose. (I don't know when it was realised).

@mayaisloading@beige.party home country? oh well, not everyone really has one. Our home "country" can be perhaps described, qua our passports, as European Union, at best; the only EU language everyone in the family speaks is English. We relocated from UK, where medical services didn't provide our not very healthy son adequate care (any idea how inadequately treated epilepsy looks like?), and schools were routinely excluding him. At least the latter two things are much better here in Illinois, believe it or not.
H1-B visa is a standard temporary employment US visa.
