My poison was available for dirt cheap & it was much easier to keep scoring dope than it was to wrestle with my demons. I told myself that I had to keep using so that I didn't subject my family & friends to the turmoil of quitting. Every time I had tried, I suffered psychotic symptoms & I damaged my relationships terribly. I told myself at the time that I would simply die an addict & that seemed better than a violent & impossible recovery. Today I'm 2½ years sober & things are much better. 🩷

At Emergency with Grandma for the last few hours and she's stable, leaving me with the sad task of watching the most gorgeous nurses going about their work. These particular specimens are male and I'm happily objectifying them in all their chiseled glory. Thank you, Kaiser hospital, for the eye candy.

This is an excellent thread, worth your time. Finally, a Justice that says what we've all been needing to hear a judge say.

District Court judge permanently enjoins the “Kennedy Declaration,” voiding the regime’s effort to heavily curtail gender-affirming care. As always nowadays, we can’t count on higher federal courts to uphold this judgment. But no matter what, we have another example of a trial court judge showing what it is to do justice in the face of fascism. 1/ https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.ord.191371/gov.uscourts.ord.191371.93.0_1.pdf #LawFedi

🍑My peach tree hasn't leafed out yet. In researching the matter, I learned about "Chill Hours." Chill hours are the accumulated hours of time spent below 45° & for fruit trees to be woken from #dormancy they require a particular amount of Chill Hours.

My #peach tree, for instance, requires 1100 #Chill Hours & this year it only got 850. Therefore, my peach tree is stuck in a semi-dormancy. This will delay growth by a couple of months. I'll eventually see leaves & fruit but they may be meager.

I generally sleep 10-12 hours each night, and that's what works for me. Right now my life allows for it, and I am well and healthy for the 12-14 waking hours of each day.

My doctor wants to diagnose me with a sleep disorder based entirely on my length of sleep. I hit the sack at 8pm and I get up with an alarm near 7am. This is what works for me. 🌸
