  1. Military detention camps

"As far as we know, nobody from the outside world has entry into these detention centers. […] "A detainee can be held for up to a hundred and eighty days without counsel. That’s six months that a person can be held without having the right to visitation by a lawyer."

Scabies is an itchy skin rash caused by a tiny burrowing mite called Sarcoptes scabiei. Intense itching occurs in the area where the mite burrows. The need to scratch may be stronger at night. Scabies is contagious and can spread quickly through close person-to-person contact in a family, child care group, school class, nursing home or prison. Prison authorities help scabies to spread by restricting inmates’ water supply and depriving them of clean clothes and medical care. Haaretz has a detailed story on the Israeli gulags in which the state holds nearly 10,000 Palestinians. The vast majority of them have not been charged or convicted. https://archive.ph/LdVXQ @palestine@fedibird.com It is very hard to read. You do not have to read it. Simply acknowledge that the Israeli newspaper of reference documents the regime’s detention facilities. It is safer to browse the camps and torture reports by other outlets that you can find in this very thread. 🧵 #torture #prisoners #stateViolence #administrativeDetention #detention #israel #israelPalestine #prison #prisons #warCrimes #PalestinianLivesMatter #JewishSupremacy #brutalization #humanRights #Palestine #Haaretz

Greek prisoners release: Selective American condemnation is telling Two long-term prisoners were released in Greece this week: a leader of a prominent neo-nazi organisation and an anarchist — only one of the two was singled out by the US ambassador https://freedomnews.org.uk/2026/09/19/greek-prisoners-release-selective-us-condemnation-is-telling/ #Prisons #Greece #Anarchism #Fascism

The (new?) ideas around social rehabilitation in prison - now referred to as the Scandi model - look like just one more case of us forgetting (or our political class wilfully ignoring) social innovations of our past.... As Anne Owers points out English prison governor, Ian Dunbar was a innovator on rehabilitation, acknowledged by the Norwegian Prison Authorities, but whose work has been buried by the subsequent agenda of prison solely as punishment. #prisons #politics h/t Observer letters

One would think that given the UK's high levels of recidivism, reducing the prison population would focus on repeat offenders, specifically: youth work to try & reduce the number of young people embarking on a 'life of crime' (from which few escape); rehabilitation & education in prison to help the convicted change their post-release opportunities. But, the political 'logic' remains build more prisons, underfund youth work & cut prison education staff. #crime #prisons #politics

"Global Protests for Dr. Abu Safiya Meanwhile, demonstrations demanding the release of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, took place on Saturday in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, and Italy. Protesters carried Palestinian flags and called for the immediate release of Abu Safiya and all Palestinian detainees held in Israeli prisons. In Belfast, activists gathered in the city center in response to international solidarity appeals. In Milan, demonstrators highlighted reports that Abu Safiya remains in solitary confinement, has been denied adequate medical treatment, and has been subjected to torture while in Israeli custody. In London, healthcare workers and activists continued a series of public actions, including banner drops and demonstrations, to draw attention to the detention of Palestinian medical personnel." #doctor #HussamAbuSafiya #palestine #gaza #protests #demonstrations #israel #prisons #torturehttps://www.palestinechronicle.com/16-gaza-detainees-freed-amid-mounting-international-pressure-over-dr-abu-safiya/

Under cross-examination by Chavez, Main said she was unaware that Wesley was missing fingers on his left hand and added that he had never complained that the sink wasn’t working for him. She said she later visited Wesley’s cell, got into a wheelchair and wheeled it in to see if the sink would be accessible from a wheelchair. #orpol #usPol #prisons #ojrc #police
