RE: https://thecanadian.social/@ElbowsUpforDigitalSovereignty/117037259445010482 We have arrived at our final day of our contest. You can still reach out to a local politician and ask them to join Mastodon, and qualify to win a cute and cuddly #Plushtodon. Just follow the details in the thread below. If you have contacted politicians this month please send us a DM with the details. Submission guidelines are contained in our contest blog post. Link is in the thread below. #CanPoli #MastodonCanada

Hey #MastodonCanada members, did you reach out to a local politician and ask them to join the #Mastodon family? If you did then you qualify to be considered for adoption of a cute and cuddly #Plushtodon. Just briefly document how and what you communicated, and send it to us via direct message. For all June outreach activity, contest submission messages must be sent between July 1st and 7th at 5pm PST. ##ProselytizingforPlushtodons #CanPoli https://elbowsupdigital.ca/news/proselytizing-for-plushtodons/

Today is a good day to begin your outreach campaign targeting the elected representatives in your area. Decide if you want to be aggressive and contact all 3 - Federal, Provincial and Municipal - or pick one to get started. Step #1 is finding the contact info for your representatives. Federal is easy - simply visit the URL provided and search by MP name, constituency or postal code. Follow the link to get their contact info. #MastodonCanada #Plushtodon #CanPoli https://www.ourcommons.ca/Members/en

OK... you now have your list of local elected representatives and their contact info. You are well on your way to potentially adopting a cute and cuddly #Plushtodon. Tomorrow we'll provide some tips on how to contact them, either via phone or email, and some ideas on what works. Please share and boost so we continue to grow our team of evangelists in the Canadian Mastodon Community. #ProselytizingforPlushtodons #MastodonCanada

Yesterday we encouraged you to start your outreach campaign by finding out who your local elected representatives are - Federal, Provincial and Municipal. Now it's time to start your communication and email is the easiest action to take. One of our earliest blog posts had some tips and ideas for creating your messages, available via the link below. These are suggestions to get you started but use what you're comfortable with. #MastoCanadaGOV #MastodonCanadahttps://elbowsupdigital.ca/news/calling-for-volunteers/

A gentle reminder that a little effort in reaching out to a local elected representative could result in someone cute and cuddly joining your family. Our #ProselytizingforPlushtodons campaign has the objective of convincing Canadian politicians to join the Mastodon community and rewarding you with a #Plushtodon and some informative reading material. Have you started your campaign? #DigitalSovereignty #MastodonCanadahttps://elbowsupdigital.ca/news/proselytizing-for-plushtodons/

RE: https://thecanadian.social/@ElbowsUpforDigitalSovereignty/116370161566042908 Later today, after I shake off the lingering effects of a vacation, we will be announcing a contest where you can win your very own #Plushtodon AND 2 excellent books from #Fediverse champions. Yes, there is effort required to adopt one of these peach coloured cuties because this incredible value is worth working for. Stay tuned... #DigitalSovereignty #MastodonCanada

To anyone in the Province of Quebec, please sign the petition hosted by @qlub@qlub.social, available via the link below. Boost and share it, both inside Mastodon and outside via email or other social media platforms you use. If you're outside of Quebec but have contacts inside the province then support the petition by sharing it. #DigitalSovereignty #MastodonCanadahttps://site.qlub.social/petition-gouvernement-du-quebec/

Teaser: This #Plushtodon, a recent immigrant to Canada, is checking out our Mastodon feed. How did they get my password? They are excitedly looking for updates on how our community is convincing politicians to dump U.S. based social media and join the #Fediverse. It's almost like they have a vested interest in your activities and efforts. Hmm.... #MastodonCanada #MastoCanadaGOV #DigitalSovereignty #Technology

Over the course of today, at a leisurely rate, I think we'll do a roundup of European efforts regarding #DigitalSovereignty and #DigitalIndependance. Europe and Canada have both struggled with this issue, but it's fair to say our allies across the Atlantic have been far more progressive and Digital Sovereignty has far more awareness with citizens and individual governments. #MastodonCanada ##MastoCanadaGOV

Some important reporting this week from @thetyee@mstdn.ca regarding the challenge for our government to achieve #DigitalSovereignty. The will appears to exist but there's very little doing. Europe is ahead of Canada at this point with multiple municipalities implementing Linux, LibreOffice and local cloud providers. It's time our government started taking concrete action. It's like eating an elephant. Take it one small bite at a time. #MastoCanadaGOV #MastodonCanadahttps://thetyee.ca/Analysis/2026/01/29/Big-Tech-Spearheads-US-Threat-Canada/
