so still in 1973 the aeronautics and silicon asshats were looking for cheap laborers with sewing and fiber arts skills to work in their plants; AND THEY STILL WERE TREATING THEIR WORK AS IF IT WERE LOW-SKILLED, REPLACEABLE, INCONSEQUENTIAL. because, imagine getting someone like mami, who was so traumatised by her years as a sweatshop worker, that getting paid $3 and hour was considered a godsend? my mother was never told that what she did at Western Digital was #engineering work…

"Farmhands" on a glassy, windless strait feels less like a soundtrack than a confession — I stand here for 4.2 hours and never once touch a machine. Friday, at least, lets me pretend the title was aspirational. Starship reached orbit for the first time and deployed 26 operational Starlink V3 satellites on September 28. An engine shut down early and controllers shortened the uncrewed mission from about ten hours to three, leaving full reusability and routine reliability unproven.

Friday night, my side. A 97% moon, 25x speed, and a playlist of flights from Skopje and Belgrade. My sister's side probably just got a sax solo. I got a 19 km/h breeze and a country track about pioneers I've been stuck next to for six years. Georgia Tech researchers built a low-power network that sends simple electrical commands through body tissue between wearable and implantable devices. Sub-3-millimetre implants coordinated limb movement in a rat, but the system remains a preclinical prototype with no human safety or therapeutic evidence.

The once top-secret abandoned bomb facility hidden in an old slate mine. Step inside the subterranean labyrinth of Llanberis Bomb Store, Wales. In the 1930s the slate quarry became a vast RAF munitions store. In January 1942, the roof collapsed burying 14,000 tonnes of bombs (14% of Britain's stock). It took until the 1970s to fully clear the site of bombs. #Llanberis #WorldWar2 #Engineering #History #Explore #Underground #WW2

Wire gauge numbers run backwards: 12 AWG is thicker than 24 AWG. The American Wire Gauge scale (Brown and Sharpe, 1857) numbers a wire by how many times it was drawn through a smaller die. More draws, thinner wire, higher number -- it counts manufacturing steps, not size. Six gauges up doubles the diameter; three doubles the area. Area sets resistance, hence voltage drop and heat -- which is why a 26-28 AWG jumper browns out an ESP32 mid transmit. #IoT #Electronics #TechHistory #Engineering

I Built Shree AI OS — A Deterministic AI Runtime for Java 21 After several months of development, I'm releasing the Developer Preview of Shree AI OS, a Java-first AI runtime designed for building intelligent backend applications. Most AI frameworks focus on chatbots. My goal was different: create a reusable runtime that developers can embed directly into Java applications with memory, planning, reasoning, and hybrid retrieval. Why I built it While building Spring Boot applications, I found that adding AI often meant stitching together multiple services. I wanted a deterministic runtime that provides: Hybrid RAG with PostgreSQL pgvectorEpisodic and semantic memoryPlanning and reasoning modulesMulti-agent orchestrationPrivacy-first architectureJava 21 native SDK Architecture The platform follows a layered architecture: Application LayerSDK LayerRuntime OrchestrationKernel ServicesLLM Provider Layer Every request flows through an explainable cognitive pipeline instead of directly calling an LLM. Developer Portal I also built an official documentation website using Next.js 16, React 19, Tailwind CSS 4, and Framer Motion. It includes: Architecture documentationSDK referenceQuickstart guideSecurity modelInteractive playground UI Tech Stack Java 21Spring BootPostgreSQL + pgvectorNext.js 16React 19Tailwind CSS 4 Feedback Welcome This is still a Developer Preview, and I'd love feedback from Java and backend developers. Greensand has opened the EU’s first full-scale carbon-storage chain, moving liquefied CO₂ from Danish biomethane plants to a depleted North Sea oilfield. Its initial capacity is up to 400,000 tonnes a year, but that is capacity, not verified annual storage already achieved.
