we really had a thing going for a while there. Glorious years with some amazing community and conferences that centered our human relationships to one another and how they could be better. And all it took to kill it all was a lying machine that sucks your metaphorical ego-dick and spits out worse code than someone who just graduated college.

like jesus fuck I'm not even ragging on LLMs or fighting anyone. I'm literally just saying "this is not the space for this discussion" and marking replies as off-topic, including my own responses to them, so as not to detract from the completely unrelated issue.

@jokeyrhyme sure, but these folks aren't looking for systemic or personal anything. They're absolutely just wanting to play with their new favorite toy and ducking their head when anyone might give them the stink eye about it. They're literally ashamed of it.

This is a good game and you should buy it. “Mario 3 with lesbians” doesn’t even do it justice. It would be amazing even if it wasn’t Mario 3

my migration from this instance to @zkat@fedi.zkat.tech seems to have frozen, and my followers have stopped migrating. Anyone know how to get this unstuck? The latter is a GTS instance.

Boosts welcome!

Replying to

@jessamyn @shauna I was an undersocialized toxic as hell gamer boy and my first year was basically spent stepping on land mines. Eventually came out the side a somewhat better person. I don’t even want to think of who I would be today if Hampshire hadn’t given me the room to grow and the resources I needed to learn better.

@afreytes@mastodon.gamedev.place yeah if you already have a good, recent PC that you bought/built out, you're fine just throwing steam with big picture mode on there. It'll be a less console-y experience but that's pretty minor.
