@ascentale@sfba.social @bikenite@fedigroups.social Once I flew to france with some mates and a MTB in a carboard box and I packed the box with all my clothes to pad it out. We got picked up by the gite owner and he lobbed all our bikes in a trailer, then he went over a speed bump at about 50mph and they all flew into a muddy ditch :-)

@ascentale@sfba.social @bikenite@fedigroups.social I've flown with bikes a few times, the first time I ever did it was in 2000 with BA to Chile and I literally just handed it over, not even boxed. Mostly after that I've used a proper soft or hard case; if you're using a soft case the main thing to make sure of is that there's some kind of crush protection so you stuff doesn't get trashed if the bike's at the bottom of the pile.

We're being treated to some stone-cold classic monuments this spring. What a race. #parisroubaix #cycling #BikeTooter

@quixoticgeek@social.v.st The Bath ones got pulled down a long while back. I'm a big fan of these flats near Kings Cross which have kept and reused the original structures

@neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk that is interesting. i've cancelled two or three subs in the last couple of years after renewal and got a refund without issues, so i think partly it's formalising the way that a lot of companies are already working?

@zettpunkt @PetraPhoenix Worth knowing that apples are weird, and if you plant eg a seed from a Discovery apple, you won't get a Discovery apple tree. Chances are the apples won't even be edible. Basically all apple trees are propagated by grafting. https://www.stivesorchard.co.uk/grow-apple-from-seed/

@james@adney.land We got the whole usual spiel of "oh they're very rare, many people come for years and never see one, etc etc" then literally walked for about 10 mins and the guide was, "oh there's one on that branch" :-)

@james@adney.land Yay! such a mad looking thing. We were lucky enough to see one in Monteverde a couple of years back. My pics aren't that good though!
