Everything which passes through google servers and is not end-to-end encrypted, can technically be read, scanned and analyzed by google. I personally assume that it will be, regardless of checkboxes.

@pgreer @danirabbit actually, exactly this once happened to meth.
Heroin, in turn, used to be a cough medication (and banned for side effects rather than inefficiency)

@brunomiguel @grant_h details matter, though. Especially as the info tells about browser extensions rather than software (which browser normally should not even offer access to).

Folks were not too much obsessed with politeness of vocabulary back in the day.

@anonymouspl@expressional.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org Actually more important is the way to dispose the heat, and for some unknown reason I don't really think they use it to heat shelters in winter.
And do I understand correctly that they use ca. 30 times more energy annually than the whole CERN??? (1.3 TWh according to their info https://home.cern/science/engineering/powering-cern/ )

Because everybody pretends to understand under socialism whatever they want to, and this is very misleading.
Somebody implies (post-)soviet states, which is a clear nonsense and sounds very wrong and offensive for us, people living or lived in post-soviet states.
Somebody - Scandinavian democracies (despite their economical backbone is clearly capitalistic).
Somebody - mystical hypothetical future socialist society, about which everybody talks, but nobody have ever managed to build (well, maybe Scandinavians will eventually manage to - which would be a great irony of history btw).

@freshstart@hachyderm.io @akareilly@hachyderm.io guillotine is a cyclic tradition - first you order to execute somebody, then somebody else orders to execute you, and so forth. The executioner is most likely the same man.

@Ulmo @autonomysolidarity you've probably haven't got the question. It is well described what fascism is. But the question is who decide who is a fascist.
In the Soviet Union, you've legally got freedom of speech (no kidding, read the constitution!!). But if you ever tried to exercise it *for real*, you was begging for criminal charges for "anti-soviet propaganda", which may have resulted in execution by shooting, long-term imprisonment or forcible treatment in a "psychiatric" (i.e. mind-killing) facility.
Somehow similarly, now we see a lot of folks who pretend to "protest" against "Israeli fascism" by killing random Jews in their cities.

@kravietz@agora.echelon.pl "Yet ironically, old Orthodox Church books are written in an archaic language that is very similar to modern Ukrainian, but not modern Russian" ehm, that is kind of imprecise, Church Slavonic mostly originates from South Slavic dialects (Cyrill and Methodius originated somewhere from Macedonia AFAIR).

@Kalshann@mastodon.social I would say "sick day" has a bit different meaning in Europe: it is a day you can claim yourself sick without actually visiting/calling your doctor -- the latter is not a problem in principle, but is a bit more of bureaucratic burden, which doesn't worth it if you just have say a short common cold or headache. However, last years they seem to be phased out in favour of home offices.

@autonomysolidarity I like the simplicity, but the totalitarian legacy of my country of origin dictates one important question: "who decides who will be called 'fascist'"?

@johnhattan @yosephus I suppose the image was primarily done for legacy evil "capitalistic"(tm) social media, which may delist the guy for speaking about negative things like death. I don't even mention that GPS is a military US technology, only later made available for civilians (and only recently with high precision), which I find quite funny to praised by a dude with sickle and hammer in the username.
This is not to undermine the scientific contribution of the doc, surely. May she rest in peace.
