"But doing something like this requires you to take for granted that other people are smart, that smart people have always existed, and that very little in the human experience is new. That requires, you know, intellectual humility — and a willingness to think about other people’s experiences."

I've been noticing that the days are getting longer, and if my calculations are correct, we will be living in perpetual daylight by the middle of December. Concerning 🤔

Unusual for me these days, I'm posting a blog post that is beautiful and hopeful.

"This computer is for the kid who doesn’t have a margin to optimize. Who can’t wait for the right tool to materialize. Who is going to take what’s available and push it until it breaks and learn something permanent from the breaking."

Japanese taxes done. Excited that I'll be getting my biggest refund ever since they raised the basic exemption

As always, the Yayoi smartphone app you have to use to read your miner card is such a pain in the ass. Let me use my IC card reader connected to my computer! That's why I bought it years ago! YOU MADE ME BUY IT MFERS 💀

Filler RAM won't make your system run any better, but it'll at least make it look good.

First bike ride of a significant length since November to deliver reimbursement papers to city hall.

I killed tracking on the return leg early. When I left city hall, I felt my belly gurgle a little. By the time I was about 2/3rds home, I was having a full-blown butt emergency. I tried to make it to a store I know, but my butt said, "No." Thankfully there was a public restroom in a close park.

I thought sales were bad last year. Worst year for sales since 2021.

Well the bonus at least will be cheaper health insurance and jumin tax.

Every time I look at the news, the South Korean semiconductor industry is fucked in a new way.

"South Korea is among the most exposed countries, which, according to the Korea International Trade Association, imported 64.7% of its helium from Qatar in 2025. The country relies heavily on helium imports to cool silicon wafers during fabrication and is understood to have no viable substitute."

Bit of light reading with breakfast.

"In other words, the Iran conflict has revealed yet another strategic chokepoint: The world’s most important memory‑chip producers depend on energy supplies that move through some of the most geopolitically volatile waterways on Earth."

The Iran War Is Also Now a Semiconductor Problem

The conflict is exposing the deep energy vulnerabilities of Korea’s chip industry.
