The 40000 M_sun intermediate mass black hole postulated to exist in the Omega Centauri globular cluster is large enough that a human being can get to the event horizon without being pulled apart, although they *would* feel the tidal forces (comparable to +/-1g over your height).

Spent a while trying to find a bug in a complicated routine, only to discover it was a bug in a much simpler routine that I'd *assumed* was correct because it was simpler. This happened twice. #programming

Found out today if you set marker fill colour to 95% transparent in #Excel you can make it shade the density of points if you have too many to plot (like 10^5 green ones here).

@dpiponi@mathstodon.xyz Algebra is based on unknowns: e.g. x being a variable instead of writing 3. These examples are what happens when multiplication operator is an "unknown", and when a bilinear function is an unknown. They're just more complex unknowns.

The deuterium-hydrogen ratio in comet 3I/ATLAS suggests it formed under different conditions to our own solar system. #space #astronomy

Water D/H in 3I/ATLAS as a probe of formation conditions in another planetary system - Nature Astronomy

ALMA observations of the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS provide a limit on the deuterium-to-hydrogen ratio in water. This ratio is a sensitive probe of temperature, suggesting that comet 3I formed in an ultracold environment with minimal thermal processing in its home system.

Some of the 55,000 tennis balls used during Wimbledon are upcycled into tiny homes for harvest mice. After the tournament, the used tennis balls, made of rubber and felt, are collected and transformed into cozy shelters by organizations like the British Wildlife Centre.
