Ahead of the first round of voting on the 23rd, I have written 4 data driven pieces on #WestBengal
Part 1: #Kolkata vs the Metros

Part 2: Industrialisation and Investment
https://ordinaryanalysis.substack.com/p/west-bengal-economy-large-by-size-thin-by-structure

Part 4: Welfare Worked. Wealth Didn’t Follow.

Part 5 is the synthesis. It will try to connect the threads across cities, economy, health, and human development. It will also carry some personal commentary.

The View From RSS - What the web looks like when you subscribe to 2,000 RSS feeds.

Such a cool setup. I would ike to have something like this someday. Where I would only have one feed to look at, I won't need anything else.

Currently, I have like 10 feeds.

In the ever-evolving knowledge economy, companies keep inventing new metrics to measure worker productivity.

The latest one: tokens consumed.

New post on why that's the wrong question, and what to ask instead.

The New Tap-In, Tap-Out

Many companies have started doing something unusual. They have started publishing weekly snapshots of how employees use AI. It often comes as a leaderboard where the employees are ranked. Or a personal email telling you how you used AI last week. There is something very familiar about this whole exercise. Like a cover song you can’t quite remember. For a long time, the standard unit of employee productivity was presence. Think about factory work, where hours logged were directly proportional to th

South Bengal votes Wednesday. The RG Kar case didn't end with protests. It ended with silence from those in power. That silence is a choice. So is your vote.

Vote like someone is watching. Because someone always is.

Boosts are appreciated for a wider sample.

Most GenAI-driven productivity debates, I feel, quietly assume GenAI is just a coding tool. But for teams actually building AI-native features, the problem is quite different. Wrote about it in my blog, with a couple of visuals that I think make the argument clearer than words alone.

Replying to
@azad@toot.community High tariffs, industrial licensing, approval permission economy - these are the hallmarks of a left and pretty statist economy. “Left economics” isn’t about the outcome for the poor, but rather the involvement of the state. Your point about the crony capitalism is valid and reinforces this. Captured state intervention, is still a state intervention. And we are kind combining the worse of both worlds economically.
