@preservaAV@mastodon.social If your colleague is still stuck, it occurs to me that likely this is just a quirk in the UI. When you pick a user name, I believe the software shows you what your complete fediverse address will be — so for example mine is [at] richardgrant [at] mastodon [dot] social, though only part of that is the user name that I chose. So in that respect, I guess mastodon does impose a certain format, and it's a function of how the fediverse works as a network of separate, distributed servers.

@nathanlovestrees Watch for ticks!

@davidnjoku So say we all

@SaySimonSay Simon, it looks like you haven't gotten much response to your query. I'm afraid I don't have much to contribute, as I'm not very active on pixelfed and don't specifically follow queer accounts there. You might try repeating your request with a number of lgbt-related hashtags, so as to attract more notice.

@cobalt123 That is quite a tree!

@Popehat So good to have you in the Good Place!

@aurynn But these unnamed people, whom you clearly disdain, owe you free content? In the real world, the alternative to advertisements may be a subscription economy with paywalls everywhere. Or maybe not, if you've got some genius plan to make people work without pay and the internet run for free.

@outofcontrol@phpc.social @kboyd@phpc.social You might try the web interface (which works pretty well as a web app) and also Impressia: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/impressia-for-pixelfed/id1663543216 The official Pixelfed iOS app is working okay for me, however.
