Neville Park

sigh I'm going to have to watch Devil Girl from Mars, aren't I #Monsterdon

Did…did they change the setting from France to Québec because they were casting a bunch of Anglo actors and they figured French + Anglo = Québécois? #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

we're really ending on this "but was it REAL????" note? okay then hahahaha "Skeleton - By Himself" alkjdflkajdlfk #Monsterdon

Like @Lazarou@mastodon.social I'm impressed by the number of women characters with speaking parts in this movie, definitely passes my personal "could they do a straight porno parody of this without having to invent new women characters" rule #Monsterdon

"The first [wife] simply disappeared. The other two died." girl and you still married him???? #Monsterdon

"It's still a her" If it wasn't, this would become a very different movie #Monsterdon

oh my god did i miss a murder when I was gone #Monsterdon

I mean, this is still Monsterdon, we 100% know all women have been cast for their ability to do a terrified, wordless scream #Monsterdon

"But for one instant he was careless." That was honestly quite good! Patricia Owens's performance (as Helene) sells it. And of course Vincent Price is never unwelcome. Okay time to cuddle the cat now, g'night all! Thanks @ryan@social.miyaku.media for the stream! #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

Face reveal! We got face reveal!!!! Not the most inaccurate fly head I've seen, although I do think they could have done the compound eyes better. Fly!Andre's angst is really well done. I am sure this was a formative moment for Guillermo Del Toro #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

Hold the fuck up, that's…half of an Argiope stabilimentum why does an orbweaver have a…strangely accurate wolf spider eye arrangement??? hey, i feel sorry for the guy but why did the spider have to die??? #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

…Actually, does anyone know what the first occurrence of the "stay the night in the haunted house, get $LARGE_AMOUNT_OF_MONEY" trope was? (Plain old financial straits/legal stipulations à la another William Castle film, 13 Ghosts, doesn't count.) #Monsterdon

*sigh* Another fire? #Monsterdon

Chekhov's chandelier #Monsterdon

"I ain't afraid of ghosts." https://youtu.be/9J9haehfQeg #Monsterdon

oh to lounge around looking hot with Vincent Price and sniping bitchily at each other #Monsterdon

From Wikipedia: [Screenwriter Robert] Towne later said the film "was a little dull. I think it would have been better if it had been with a man who didn't look like a necrophiliac to begin with…I love Vincent. He's very sweet. But, going in, you suspect that Vincent could bang cats, chickens, girls, dogs, everything. You just feel that necrophilia might be one of his Basic Things. #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

Lots of nice blinkenlights, and the real neon lighting is cute. The box lighting is great too! #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

Sending in my regrets for #Monsterdon, got family stuff! Have a so-bad-it's-good time, all

i'm sorry i was laughing too hard because all i could think of was this tumblr post #Monsterdon #tma #TheMagnusArchives

Mars Needs Transsexuals Tagline: "A marvellous invention allows Man to travel the universe…but turns him into Woman!" People can be instantly transported to other planets, but it also changes their sex. Of course, going back also changes one's sex. So basically our intrepid space travellers are constantly gender-swapping. It's a very problematic but surprisingly open-minded sex comedy. #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

"diegetic string" is right up there with "saturnine psychiatrist" #Monsterdon

Shitty prop bat? YEP, THAT'S MONSTERDON™ #Monsterdon

The actress who plays the nurse also voiced Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians! #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

i would absolutely believe "this property had a freaky murder in every room" nowadays if it was, like, an illegal AirBnB in a trendy neighbourhood #Monsterdon

Well I'll be damned, an actual bat. I wonder if anyone here can ID it? #Monsterdon

really enjoying Elisha Cook Jr. in this as Anxiety Disorder Guy #Monsterdon

thanks to @oration@mastodon.social i have a loaner Tex Shinobi keyboard which i am going to put to the ultimate endurance test of posting through #Monsterdon 🔴🖮

"Of course he has a gun, we all have guns! It's 1958 and we're Americans!" #Monsterdon

Ice cold, Vince! #Monsterdon

GET HIM LADY! #Monsterdon

oooh. up next on @miru@social.miyaku.media: The Tomb of Ligeia (1964). What hashtag do we use for this? MonsterdonDoubleFeature? Monsterdon2? #Monsterdon

YES is it even a potentially haunted house if you don't swan around it in a filmy nightgown in the dead of night #Monsterdon

I am not at all sure no flies were harmed in the making of this film #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

I hope we can all agree Price's shades in this are sick. If they were mirrored they would be so cyberpunk. #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

Omg the hand reveal (and an A+ scream), nice' It didn't look much like a fly hand tho??? (See e. g. this robber fly (family Asilidae) or this Drosophila.) #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

let's goooooo! House on Haunted Hill (1958) #Monsterdon 🧵

I don't know if this script is good, but thanks to my long Monsterdon viewing experience I know it could have been much, much worse, and am grateful #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

Really nice how effective a guy with a cloth over his head is with just the hand and the halting typing #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

anyway told you she wasn't dead. yes i know we all thought she wasn't dead so i don't even know who i'm "telling" #Monsterdon

I'm a little disoriented by the whiplash from what I assumed was "monologue added after the fact because test audiences didn't get it" to normal introductory "here are the characters" narration #Monsterdon

brb snacks, and distracting the cat who is bored and when he's bored he's a little hellion #Monsterdon

that's a terrible fake spider but ok Apparently it took them forever to do the scene with the teeny "help meee!" because they kept cracking up #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

is it just me or is this house kind of…brutalist, or at least modernist? nice change from your typical creaky old Victorian #Monsterdon

*kitten comes trotting in* *mad scientist looks up* me: OH NO YOU DON'T #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

*Helene flings herself out of bed to protect a fly* me when someone tries to kill a random bug #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

"You know how women are." slap that kid upside the head with a slipper #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature

Oh no! We're trapped in a bedroom hiding from a serial killer…and there's Only One Bed!! #Monsterdon
