One of the neat things about the IBM Selectric typewriter is that it has interchangeable "typeballs" for different fonts/languages. And now someone figured out how to 3D print custom ones, so now you can type on a Selectric in Comic Sans. https://www.printables.com/model/441233-comic-sans-typeball-for-the-ibm-selectric-typewrit

Babylon 5 is so good, and it's coming out free on YouTube. The aesthetics and budget are very 1990s syndicated TV, but the writing is usually top-notch.
Working on Xeroverse Book 4 led to thinking about apocalypticism, which led to realizing that, particularly among Evangelicals, End Times Jesus is sort of an inversion of Gospels Jesus, turning the humble savior into a merciless cosmic judge and conqueror. Or to put it another way, it's the difference between Superman and Stardust the Super Wizard, and I assume I get some kind of terrible prize for coming up with that analogy.
Whoever wrote this for The Onion knows a lot about TTRPGs. https://theonion.com/olivia-rodrigo-releases-fantasy-tabletop-game-the-high-winter-elves-of-girlville/
You ever had a weird, annoying day that you end up spending 20 minutes telling all your friends about? That's every episode of Atlanta, except there's surreal touches like some guy has an invisible car.
Getting caught up on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and apparently they decided this would be the season with nothing but gimmick episodes. I'm okay with that.
Also I saw a subtitle say "[Singing "Total Eclipse of the Heart" in Klingon]"
And here's a new chapter of How the Overpowered Hero Destroyed the Land, because why not? Osamu gets fed up and makes everyone sit down and talk for a change. #isekai
Almost 9pm and it’s 84°F and that’s fucked up.
A new chapter of Memes of the Prophets is up on Royal Road! The party takes a break from adventuring for Erica to see if anyone's interested in her Earth ideas. Introducing the Guild of Artists to modern art may have been a mistake though... #isekai #fiction

I've been inspired to work on Book 4 of the Xeroverse Tetralogy (Hero League: The Hunger), a mixture of generic superhero movie action, surreal weirdness, and whatever this is.
Browsing Apple Music somehow led me to this amazing, atmospheric track "A Quick One Before the Eternal Worm Devours Appalachia" by Lizard in the Spring (which is a cover of the Connecticut version by Deathconsciousness).

"A Quick One Before the Eternal Worm Devours Alabama" by The Lie in Callie layers ethereal vocals on top, and it's great too (but not on YouTube).

Spotted on Reddit, a truly incredible book cover: https://www.reddit.com/r/TerribleBookCovers/comments/1s2fq3t/the_metamorphosis_by_franz_kafka/
A new chapter of Xero to Hero is up on Royal Road! After the mess in the previous chapter, Dan is disillusioned, but when he tries to go home, things get weird. #superhero #fiction

How dumb are fascists? They tried to ban pasta in Italy.

Watched a video about the decline of Panera and if you guessed that it's because of private equity, then you my friend have basic pattern recognition! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reKdGyFv7Uw

New on ClockworkAvocado.com, a look at Breaking Bad, its fandom, and how it was part of the prestige TV trend that David Lynch was (arguably) satirizing in Twin Peaks: The Return.
Wernher von Braun wrote a fiction book called The Mars Project where the leader of Mars was named "Elon." Alex Jones says this is because von Braun was "extremely psychic." In real life, Elon's shitty dad read the book and named his son after the character.

WELP. 28 of my coworkers are getting laid off. I was spared--and I'm _hoping_ they're done with layoffs for a while--but I'm definitely gonna start seriously looking for a less stressful job.

Dammit. Microsoft's AI nonsense is bad enough, there's no need to make stuff up. https://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft/windows-11/no-an-ai-focused-windows-12-is-not-coming-this-year-false-report-gets-the-facts-completely-wrong

@captpackrat@pawb.fun I don't have much experience with resin printing, but I'd worry about the plastic having the right flexibility and durability.

Apparently I messed up and scheduled two Xero to Hero chapters for today, so enjoy a bigger dose than normal as the movie's villain is revealed. #superhero #fiction

@the_turtle@mastodon.sdf.org I mean IBM spun their typewriter business off into Lexmark in 1991.
The guy who created this actually put together a parametric thing for making typeballs with any font, and there's more info about it here: https://github.com/settinger/selectric_typeballs

@sgt1372@sfba.social There are still some shops that do typewriter repairs like Berkeley Typewriter (berkeleytypewriter.com) if you ever do want to get it fixed BTW. :)
