@KevinLikesMaps@eldritch.cafe @Miriamm@mastodon.social Lol, I came here to make the same comment... ;) The good 'ol southern boys leaving those landing crafts were the same people electing segregationists back home.

@watsonlv@mastodonapp.uk @historydefined@mastodonapp.uk The programmers of the earliest computers were all women! For decades it was seen that building a computer was the "real" work and programming / maintaining it just an afterthought, so they assigned the latter to women - who designed some of the most fundamental programming concepts today. But at formal events they were still expected to serve drinks and be eye candy for the men, and called "refrigerator ladies" (aka appliance models). Read their histories, it's neat!

@stanstallman@sfba.social @mergerson@mastodon.social I just don't know what to do - this misinformation is circulating faster than anyone can correct it. At least on #Birdsite, if someone posts a correction, it tends to get lots of likes and rises to the top. But here it's just "whoever posts first goes at the top, everyone else gets buried at the bottom where nobody sees it" :(

@Digitalyn@mastodon.xyz Come on, I don't see the resemb...

"The charge is failure to stop at a stop sign. Obliterating the stop sign is not a legal loophole." "Also, you can't block the road. Then consume the road. Then become the road." "Something must be wrong with this breathalyzer - it's pegged."

@notsoloud@expressional.social I'm way more active on Bluesky. But I'm bridged via bridgy.fed :) Just follow @bsky.brid.gy, then follow @nafnlaus.bsky.social :)

@MiriShuli@mstdn.social @Popehat@mastodon.social @Pope@mstdn.social Contrary to Mastodon Myth, Jack Dorsey does not...

• Own Bluesky
• Run Bluesky
• Take part over on Bluesky
• Like Bluesky

Honestly, he rather hates it and bailed long ago over to Nostr with the other crypto bros. And there was much rejoicing ;)

@Popehat@mastodon.social @MiriShuli@mstdn.social @Pope@mstdn.social Sad the myths that so many people here believe about Bluesky (starting with the notion that it's run Jack Dorsey). :( (BTW, I'd appreciate it if you'd unblock me on Bluesky - I'm pretty sure you did so due to one of Kairi's blocklists, except I was added due to a misunderstanding (https://github.com/bluesky-social/proposals/issues/36 - search for "How thousands of people") and have since been removed)

@randomwalker "OpenAI isn't" We need to happen to LLMs what happened to generative image AIs: an entity like Stability to come along and release (generally) license-unhindered weights to the public for good models that can run on consumer-grade GPUs. We're "kinda" there with LLMs, in that LLaMA weights were released. Though the license is kind of burdensome, and support to make something ChatGPT-ish out of it is still being hacked together. (BTW, your substack name is a turnoff to discussion)

@chrisabides@infosec.exchange How did you write such a long post? (Also, it's not entirely accurate to say that you can't "quote-tweet"; it's just made less convenient, to discourage it. You have to copy the link and then paste it into a new post)

@wobin@aus.social @dgar@aus.social Huh, that's the name of #ElonMusk's dog too! ;)

@Gargron@mastodon.social @mosseri We need to bridge ActivityPub and ATProto! :)

@MiriShuli@mstdn.social @meganox@mas.to @Popehat@mastodon.social @Pope@mstdn.social He's on the board, but as a minority voice. He doesn't like Bluesky. He left to Nostr. Talks bad about Bluesky. And Bluesky is glad to be rid of him. ATProto was established to work around the weaknesses of ActivityPub. For example, poor ability to migrate and the ability of a spiteful or incompetent instance owner to completely F* you over. That said, the two could at some point be bridged. Bluesky would then look like a single Masto instance.

@nebkor @ifilljustice People overcomplicate #ElonMusk and try to insert conspiracies everywhere. He's an #Aspie who, as someone who's good at technical things (yes, legitimately), also developed a bad case of #DunningKruger, and being attacked by the left endlessly over the years helped give the #AltRight his ear and push him down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole. He now legitimately believes that there's giant plots to suppress truth and he's the heroic freedom fighter resisting them.

@nebkor He owns the lion's share of it. And others tag on because there's still lots of people in the market that believe that everything he touches will eventually turn to gold, or who hope to court his favour into other projects. And he's extremely susceptible to echo chambers.

@BBCRD@social.bbc Hey, why aren't you over at Bluesky? :)

@furby@towns.gay @BBCRD@social.bbc I can only conclude based on this that you're not at Bluesky, because that doesn't describe it even remotely. Also, you're not the BBC.
