@NewtonMark@eigenmagic.net good luck with that, last time I checked Russia was importing their diesel to cover production shortfall and lowered their domestic production quality to Euro-3 which is causing engines to blow up

At least, Random Friend should be almost bulletproof as a dev board: ESD diodes on every header, fuses on every power input and output.
It’s kinda grown legs. And arms. And bells and whistles and gongs. And tentacles.

@shlee@aus.social it’s only a MongoDB if it’s a RDBMS from the Steppes of Mongolia, otherwise it’s just sparkling data corruption

What, you reckon this 4x4mm MOSFET will conduct 80 amps for longer than like 1us?

Oopsiedoodle, I bought and put wrong resistors for the “precision enable” voltage divider. Enable voltage is 4.9V. Which a USB port and shitty cable might not reach…

@backupbear@aus.social @shlee@aus.social or, as @abstractcode@eigenmagic.net so eloquently puts it: MongoDB is just short for “this data is unimportant”

On the other hand, 3.318V is only +0.5% from 3.30V, and is within the design goal of +/- 1.5% voltage regulation!

Only things left to do is test with 12-24V input, stick a big load across it, and measure output voltage ripple

@oxy@social.bsdlab.au but specifically I usually get PCBs made by JLCPCB. They’re fine for anything that’s not seriously high-speed or frighteningly high-density.

Okay, 24V input “works” - except for the 5-24V DC input power LED circuit.
Whose stupid calculations came out to a 75ohm series resistor for the Zener circuit? Yeah of course the Zener diode is going to start smoking when it tries to dissipate 1.2W of heat.
