I hobby code (mainly Python), have cats, tinker with/detail cars, and fiddle with FreeBSD. I like making photos. Playing with Internet stuff since '96. Interested in kernels, protocols, and inner workings in general. Intermittent cyclist. Cloudy Amazonian, and they tell me my opinions are my own. Jeg lærer norsk.

@bloor@bloor.tw have a look at tune2fs (it’ll have a man page), I think the -m option is the one. -l (lower case L) shows the current value :)

@thedoh@hachyderm.io @cR0w@infosec.exchange on macOS you can run something like
eval $(pbpaste)
to run what’s in your clipboard without the command itself going in your history. You sometimes need “s around the parameter (like if it’s multiline maybe?). I’m sure Linux has an equivalent to pbpaste, but I don’t know what it is.

@KiwiEV@mastodon.nz clearly you got it by putting potatoes in all the storage spaces and counting them, it can’t possibly be a trade secret

@thedoh@hachyderm.io @cR0w@infosec.exchange yeah I use that a bunch too :)
And of course, only for clipboard contents you trust. I mostly use it for things like setting temp AWS creds vended by a portal (for times I don’t have sso or other mechanisms)

@dan@mastodon.durrans.com yeah on sites using Stripe there's a section under the credit card details asking for your phone number, and filling that in is what triggers the OneLink signup. It has small print about it but I still catch myself starting to fill it in and then realising!

Cats :(
Made myself sad realising that the jumper I’m wearing today (air conditioned train/office) is covered in Tails fluff

@stefano@social.stefanomarinelli.it @stefano@mastodon.bsd.cafe as in you swapped out the software for the instance and everything is happy? Interesting :)
(Mastodon has annoyed me with the asset build changes in 4.6 ;)

@dan@mastodon.durrans.com keep an eye on it as batteries often suffer for having gone completely flat. Have you seen the USB power bank-style jump starters? Very useful to keep on hand/in the car

@chiffchaff@tech.lgbt not sure... on my host it was showing up as garbage TLS connections (or requests) in nginx logs, so I just matched lines for that and added them to a pf table which blocked everything, and killed state on them too. looked like random residential IPs.
it's been affecting the whole provider since Sunday evening, they've been working on mitigating it with HE

Setting up a new dash cam and it seems with suitable connectivity they can (if configured) live update location and stream video to anyone with the app?!
There’s quite a lot on the map, I wonder if all those users realised that’s what they were setting it to.
I will not be enabling any of that.

If nothing else my instance traffic use sits within the AWS free tier for DTO (pretty comfortably really) and it irks me to have that used up by someone scraping thousands of mastodon tags I’ve never used myself

@bloor@bloor.tw what filesystem is this? Some reserve space which non-root users can’t take so there’s some left for critical system stuff if it’s otherwise full (like writing to utmp as you log in so that doesn’t fail)

@Edent@mastodon.social I use wallabag for read-later stuff, and linkding for saving useful stuff. I also have a middle ground for “useful thing I want to try/use/set up, but not now” (e.g. wrong device) of saving to linkding and marking it unread there (I don’t otherwise use the read/unread status).
I had to practice putting stuff in those and closing the tab instead of leaving it open to “read later”, and that has now become habit :)

Just thought of this, for no reason.

It’ll probably charge ok, but you may find it goes flat quicker than it used to now

@dan@mastodon.durrans.com we ($job) have a bunch of interesting articles like that in the Amazon Builders' Library, complement the stuff in the Well-Architected Framework quite well. Always enjoy talking to customers about it :)
