Every JIT tier is now enabled on the Windows port of JavaScriptCore. Big thanks to Yusuke Suzuki who had the great idea of using sysv_abi in the first place, and reviewed the bulk of this work. Read more about it here:

Every JIT tier enabled for JavaScriptCore on Windows

As my first task at Pax Andromeda, I worked on (re)enabling all the JIT tiers for JavaScriptCore on Windows. This work has landed upstream in WebKit and JIT has been enabled by default on Windows. I’ll go into the background leading up to this, what changed that presented this opportunity, the work that landed, and some of the problems that came up along the way. If you’d like to join my team and work on WebKit, we’re hiring (remote US): reach out at ian@pax-andromeda.com.

Wrote a post about enabling WebAssembly on the Windows port for WebKit.

On the first episode of Off The Main Thread, @jaffathecake@mastodon.social mentions briefly that if Gecko was abandoned, they'd prefer Firefox switch to WebKit. The Windows port would need considerable work for that to happen, this is a step along that path:

WebAssembly on WebKit for Windows

Recently I landed changes to enable Wasm on Windows in WebKit. This built upon previous work to support fast webassembly memory. There were some fun challenges in getting this to work which I’ll dig into below.

Getting a rough estimate on the yearly investment into the browser commons, inspired by the post Where Browsers Come From by @bkardell@toot.cafe

Really impressive debugging environment, though it'd be nice to catch more of these bugs at compile time.
