If you are feeling adventurous (you are trying NetBSD, you are probably already! :)), I would try to drop before the boot and disable drmkms via: userconf disable i915drmkms This may help to make the screen readable but without drmkms (so no video acceleration). And maybe that's usable and may help to take notes or debug further what's going on!
