Delighted to get my monthly reminder that I'm contributing to the development of #PostmarketOS, one of the few bastions against the monopoly of mobile digital. My thanks to everybody who is supporting alternatives to google and apple. It's so important

Loved watching this video about the #audacity evolution from version 3 to 4. Plenty in there about technical debt, project management....and the perils of people taking an unfinished project and making trash videos about it!

@allpurposemat@mastodon.gamedev.place This is an amazing post, thankyou! I am another FP5 daily driver; I use an Ubports phone to get around calls, and an android phone I rarely. use for bank and UK Gov apps. I am also amazed at. the progress and cross my fingers that I can move to 'just' 2 phones later this year. Lack of autoupload images to Nextcloud is a bit of a showstopper for me but maybe that will come one day. I am also a financial supporter of PMOS and encourage all to do so!

Whilst I don't think @nicw@toot.wales has suffered from a lack of government support, I do think it's time to think about how the organisation can evolve. I have been doing some thinking on just that - to be published in due course.

Welsh Government ‘not taking its own infrastructure body seriously’

Chris Haines, ICNN Senedd reporter The Welsh Government has been accused of failing to take its own expert infrastructure body seriously amid warnings crucial advice is being ignored and delayed. Llŷr Gruffydd, who chairs the Senedd’s infrastructure committee, led a debate following annual scrutiny of the National Infrastructure Commission for Wales (NICW). Mr Gruffydd said: […]

@me As long as you don't need it for calls or banking apps etc, my experience is positive. I use for browsing, MFA, podcasts, ebook reader, games (Shattered Pixel), mastodon...basically I use it a lot less than Android because the functionality is worse, but it still has the essentials. You just have to be prepared for some rough edges
