@seanm@infosec.exchange @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu I meant that only commercial, non-federated, for-profit social media should be blocked so that the Fediverse could have a chance to enter the mainstream in the EEA.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Tbh at least people will start to start to search for alternatives if they're do that. So this will mean that the Fediverse will grow larger.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Meanwhile #GrapheneOS users:

@taylorlorenz@mastodon.social If they really want to do it, they should do it like the EU does: no outsourcing to sus companies, but instead just holding your ID card on the back of your phone or putting it into a card reader to extract a boolean value if the user is over the required minimum age. This is how the EUDI wallet works BTW, though I had to oversimplify it. But still, I agree that restricting access to social media is not a good way to fight mental health problems.

@thed34n@mastodon.social in our movie theater it probably did the UI for ordering meals, since it screamed very AI.

@zotho@mastodon.social @chatcontrol@mastodon.social Fuck around when still in the position and find out once voted out.

@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social What about instead of responding to the age bracket by providing a age bracket, you could provide back string that just says ñao ñao amigao?

@chatcontrol@mastodon.social I've already switched my family to Signal BTW. While still American, they have at least some level of transparency. (CC1.0 is voluntary mind you)

@taylorlorenz@mastodon.social Plus in the EU there's no general threshold on when the service should start doing ID checks. If you check the Wikipedia page about the DSA, you'll find that only Big Tech platforms, some porn providers and one clothes marketplace pls some American and Chinese marketplaces. Every service is considered individually. This is why, for example, Wikipedia is not considered a Very Large Online Provider unlike in that one island that has left the Union.

@brett@bitflipp.social @mortal_engine@mastodon.social @GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social Or in another profile.

@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social We really need to start using containers for running the OS itself instead of flashing the OS. Shameless plug but LosOS (https://gitlab.com/losos-linux) does that.

@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social Remember kids, always take a clean unused phone with you on a vacation abroad (preferably a clean unused phone which will be wiped after returning back home). Anyway, this shouldn't happen in a civilized world like the Schengen area or the rest of Anglosphere. The U.S. is there only country that asks you for your social media handles on the travel authorization form BTW.

@seanm@infosec.exchange @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu Not giving any ideas but this will be the opportunity to set as much people as possible up to use their federated alternatives. But honestly the same information can be circulated on Fediverse and on instant messengers. And the platforms that will implement age verification and already have chat scanning implemented should be avoided anyway.

@seanm@infosec.exchange @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu TBH the better solution will be to implement a China-style block on non-EEA social media/social media companies that don't have their global HQ in Europe while keeping instant messengers out of equation.

@spoonmaniac@infosec.exchange @GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social @notthebee@tilde.zone Even North Korea devices are used to spread CP. If it connects to the internet, it will host and/or spread the content.

@jvnebnunny@lgbtqia.space @brett@bitflipp.social @mortal_engine@mastodon.social @GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social With all due respect, are these your last words before you download something sus from the Internet?

@jvnebnunny@lgbtqia.space @brett@bitflipp.social @mortal_engine@mastodon.social @GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social I meant a random APK

@QasimRashid@mastodon.social Or just actively avoiding Meta's services.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Isn't that a blatant conflict of interest?

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Pixels with GrapheneOS installed.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Linus is better. But M-chips are very impressive.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social DId the part on degoogling.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social At least they'll have the incentive to ban pedos on Roblox.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Good for them. Our public servants are still stuck on Windows, unfortunately.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Time to block them EU-wide.

@chatcontrol@mastodon.social What a good time to stop using nontransparent messengers for sensitive stuff.

@noybeu@mastodon.social DeepL is better.
