Oh and I watched two episodes of #TOTP and the dodgy dev build on my TV didn’t crash! Woot!

@david_chisnall@infosec.exchange 60 isn’t old. I was having a gripe about dreadful AI generated code I was reviewing just yesterday. Us “old” people are just young people with a lot more experience. Oh and I rejected the PR.

@theorangetheme@en.osm.town @GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social I was asked to review some code recently where a more naive engineer had used copilot to write a unit test. I immediately looked at it and knew it was wrong and would always pass. Basically it has guessed about the internals of the API under test without any concept of threading, scheduling etc.

@lp0_on_fire@social.linux.pizza @david_chisnall@infosec.exchange Having said that most people think I’m may be just forty. Until a short while ago I played roller derby. I say the thing about gen x is that it is really just either young boomers old millennials. That’s why it gets forgotten!

@ianbetteridge @ChrisMayLA6 I would make “complaining about the noise from something that existed before you moved their as immediately dismissible by a court”

@Natasha_Jay @TCMuffin I made it all the way back to 1000 but then I’m interested in our lost letters like æ and þ (I have the icelandic keyboard set up so I can type the letters they still use) and I have some German.

@jess@blop.social My cholesterol levels have always been good. All my levels are good. My basic issue is that I don’t eat badly. I just seem to turn food instantly in to fat!

@NatalyaD @etchedpixels It wouldn’t be hard for them to have an open api behind an oauth2 type access. Sign in to their system and then everything else can be done with an authentication token.

@saramg@fosstodon.org I went to university in York. Tourists were the bane of my life! You had seasons so there was never not tourists. American season. Japanese season. European season!

@knowprose@mastodon.social @greenpeace@mastodon.social Pretty standard in the UK to panels on your house. The same elsewhere in Europe. Our set ups power our houses and inject electricity back in to the national network that we get paid for. If you add say a 5KW battery with it then you are effectively sufficient. Add an EV to that and your commuting is covered too!

@jess@blop.social As someone who works developing smart TV devices this is hilarious. So basically they shipped the TV listings to the people who maintain the EPG as an Excel file and it was imported without validation?

@pandora_parrot@beach.city I spent an hour reviewing a less experienced developer’s code with him today. He relies too much on AI and it shows. He has a C background and was doing C++. Basically the code had mistakes from him and mistakes from the AI which had learnt from bad code. I didn’t criticise I did educate!

@alexglow@chaos.social @philpem@digipres.club I bought a pair of tiny 256Gb Kingston aluminium USB sticks and made them in to earnings. Not as stylish as yours but no one noticed what they were!
