This is true for me in my graphic design work as well: repetition brings a depth of awareness of elements and process that would be lost if I automated my practice.

One of the best things about pre-search Internet was the thrill of discovery. You relied on tips from friends, BBS forums, and IRC to discover new things.
Since I can’t ride a bike for a couple of weeks I spent some time today cleaning up my roadie so it won’t feel too neglected. I’ve got over 20,000 miles logged on this lil’ steelie!

Credit bureaus give away the game when they tell you your credit score has *decreased* simply because you are taking out a new line of credit. They are a scam, a grift set up to harvest and resell your information, and should be banned or so highly regulated that any unauthorized use/leak of your information should result in — let's say — a direct payout to you of no less than $10 million.

The first time I attempted to summit Mount Massive we were about 200 meters from the summit on a ridge and the clouds rolled in, uncharacteristically early. We could hear the ice axes on our backs humming. We promptly bailed down one side of the ridge on a snowfield, glissading about 400 meters in just a few minutes to get out of danger. Probably the scariest on-mountain event I ever had.
Your body is a movement engine. Try and move it a little bit every now and then to keep it happy.

I have a great skateboard deck from the most excellent dude Sean Adams on my studio wall with a quote from Fast Times at Ridgemont High which always makes me smile. (photo in next comment)
We are getting some much-needed rain followed by much-needed snow here in Colorado's Front Range, but I am still going to lament and wail if the freeze gets my lil tiny peachlets
In another episode of "Why You Don't Let a Web Designer Create Your Printed Marketing" Alan opens someone's "print-ready" PDF that has over 200 printability issues in it.

Current physical state, after falling on my already weak side with my cargo bike on top of me — as I was trying to mount it! (Yes, I am apparently cursed to fall of bikes, but only when stopped) ![]()
In case any brain surgeons out there need some advice I found this bit of art I made in undergrad that will hopefully help
Got in a ride to the café, as one does, this morning. Even though I felt like Violet Beauregard after eating Wonka's Everlasting Gobstopper.
Who else still tries to open their Apple laptop with the apple icon on the lid facing you?
