Thinking I could image a 2GB SCSI disk running on the Mac II was a bit ambitious... after letting it run all night it wasn't even 1% complete #MARCHintosh

@Lydie@tech.lgbt I suppose it is technically hydro-powered since I'm in Seattle, so some solace there 😅

@_the_cloud @theirongiant restarted the image without the compression and it's going fast now! 👍
@thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io I love this computer. I bought one in college off ebay for $100 and upgraded it to a 600MHz G4. Still have and still works great.

@thatKomputerKat@oldbytes.space @jonschwenn@hachyderm.io the full system prices are over-priced. They've been willing to come down when I've made offers in the past, but that's usually for an incomplete or non-working system. I've found good deals on components that would have cost much more trying to find online. My truenas system is cobbled together from REPC parts 😆

@jonschwenn@hachyderm.io I stopped by after #VCFPNW on Saturday and was *briefly* intrigued by this StarMax on the shelf. Picked up a $5 untested board I already have a CPU for instead 😬

@davepeck@mastodon.davepeck.org I took a different approach... $5 maybe it works? mobo at REPC I happened to have CPUs (LGA1366 🙃) for, put TrueNAS scale on it and have been setting up services from there ⚡⚡⚡

@davepeck@mastodon.davepeck.org I would have been so cooked as a kid if I grew up with access to a place like REPC, it's awesome as an adult, though 😆
