I have a used Lenovo with Windows because I still need Win on x86 for a couple of obscure apps.
How can any normal consumer use this shit? This is the third time in two years that Windows Update can't finish and I need to run a set of arcane incantations that (I think) power-clean the whole Win Update machinery.

Potter Scientific Instruments Or Nothing, they said it stood for. I visited Psion Software multiple times in London in the 1990s - one of their locations was the upstairs of a garage with a hand-painted Psion sign. The Psion EPOC32 used in the Nokia 9210 Communicator later became the Symbian OS.

It's f*ing hard to try to use trains / travel carbon-neutrally.
Case study: An attempt to get from Berlin to Stockholm by train, #Snälltåget in this case.
Everything's sold out a couple of months prior. The morning of the trip, the train company informs they have no rolling stock because Denmark can't keep their railways in order. The train company's customer service is immediately maxed out, them having to close down phone service and suggesting 48h SLA for emails.
All this shit at 2-3x the cost of flying (which really should be the other way around if subsidies would be allocated correctly). #travel #trains

@evacide@hachyderm.io Asking ”who are my allies” is so important, beyond digital security. The stereotype of a prepper who assumes everyone will be out to get them is a sad one. A community that is prepping as a whole, either via government support or self-organising, will be much more resilient - and most notably, a much happier place if shit hits the fan…
