OpenAI safety leader quits, warning AI company’s culture is "broken" A safety leader at OpenAI has quit the company, warning that its culture was broken and that AI firms were not “being nearly careful enough” about developing the technology. David Robinson, who led the writing of safety reports that accompanied the ChatGPT developer’s product releases, explained his resignation in an essay headlined, “I quit OpenAI because its culture is broken”… “Imagine ‘rogue’ agents that work like teams of hackers (for example, holding hospital computer systems for ransom) but never need to sleep,” wrote Robinson… Source [2026-10-03]

They want to delete the quote from Wikipedia: "Machines should work. People should think. ~ IBM" Someone started the deletion voting and commented on the deletion support: this survived the first nomination from 2005 (just old enough to be a VfD), but that was under the lower standards of the era–a year later, it was boldly merged to Pollyanna principle (a newer article that hadn’t even been created yet at the time of the VfD), and the resulting BLAR held up for 20 years before finally being contested just today, seemingly just to add the YouTube sourcing. As there did appear to be a merger (even if any evidence of that was removed from the other article’s text, it’s still there in the page history), I’d advise against full deletion, but no opinion (even on a restoration of the long-stable redirect) beyond that. ~ Wcquidditch Source [2026-09-20 17:58:00 Z] Frankly… I was shocked when I saw such at my Wikipedia notifications… A reply I sent was: Wonderful day! I absolutely vote Against the Deletion of the dear page of a miracle! More to that, sorry, but I just cannot even imagine how anyone in their dear mind may delete that page from Wikipedia at these times when LLM/“AL” is being used frequently absolutely inhumanly… in development or even in art… If you want to contribute to Wikipedia so much, create a page for the clockmaker William Clement recently added as a reference only at!: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Clement …but leave this page alone in safe! No, we must absolutely NOT delete this page and the miraculous and so important quote from it. Too many human history and work is being inhumanly altered, deleted nowadays… Executives working on AI at Microsoft and OpenAI admitted what its critics have been saying all along: Large language models are predatory pieces of technology that have been built on what a Microsoft executive called “an astonishing theft of unprecedented proportions,” and the “largest theft of labor in human history.” An internal Microsoft document said generative AI products have created a “doom loop” that is killing “the entire web.” ~ Source In 2024, a group of authors, led by novelist Andrea Bartz and nonfiction writers Charles Graeber and Kirk Wallace Johnson, hit Anthropic with a class action lawsuit, alleging the company violated copyright laws by using pirated books to train its AI model… “It is the largest known copyright recovery in history,” said Justin Nelson, the authors’ lead attorney. - How Anthropic secretly destroyed millions of books to train its AI ~ Source This quote on the page? This is us… those who remember, appreciate, and love the human history… this is a quote of an important human history moment… which highlights the crucial difference between a Human and not… respecting, supporting, attributing to those alive… who feel, who think, who work, who cherish, who love… The YouTube video? Well, it’s published by the video’s dear author! The Jim Henson Company! People at YouTube comments even find it a marvel, too! I come back to this every once in a while when I start feeling particularly apocalyptic about AI. Machines should work, people should think. ~ @RossCourtright Absolutely not. We must not delete such a miracle from our, the infinite history… and we must respect these words with its own whole page. We should rather make it more transparent, explicit, better formatted, and more comprehensible. And I myself being almost 40 years old recall a class at school with this dear quote hanging on the wall near teacher’s table! Machines should work. People should think. ~ IBM Source [2026-09-22 08:59:00 Z]

Songs created by AI banned from Australia's music charts - BBC ARIA said that Australian artists were competing for attention “in the most crowded market in history” and that it was “not interested in promoting or celebrating the success of AI-generated music that does not contain human artistry”. Under the new rules, AI assistance can still be used, but humans must have written the song, and have performed the lead vocal and primary instruments. AI can also still be used for mastering songs and, for example, using drum machines and auto tune… The updated code, based on the IFPI directive, also excludes music that raises “stream or chart manipulation concerns”. ARIA chief executive Annabelle Herd said: “These changes reflect our intent to remain dynamic and promote the human nature of artistry in what is, to say the least, a rapidly developing space.” Artists already use AI tools in their work, the charts can and should evolve to keep room for that… Source [web-archived; 2026-08-25]

Awesome vibe-coding sorrow analogy: "He ordered it. When I order a steak at a steakhouse that doesn't make me a chef."

The following found in the article references is a freaking neat analogy regarding vibe-coded awful sorrowful nonsense out there…

  • Benjamin Burnley makes gaming mods?! The f*ck? That’s awesome!

  • Well he vibe codes gaming mods. idk if i would say he makes them

  • He made it. Constructed it. Whatever you want to call it. You didn’t. Vibe coding isn’t doing nothing.

  • He ordered it. When I order a steak at a steakhouse that doesn’t make me a chef.

Source: redd.it/1w9vfue (Benjamin Burnley interrupts a Breaking Benjamin concert with a rant about his True First Person 1.2 Fallout 4 mod…)

Meanwhile, indeed, the music/art of the Breaking Benjamin, the Fallout Community, and the art around all the Universes, including The Elder Scrolls, Starfield, Fallout… of the artists/developers at Bethesda, Zenimax, Id… is infinitely, ineffably magnificent…

"Parents Decide Act": New US Congress bill proposal requires all operating system providers to verify ages.

This appears to be part of the “Parents Decide Act” announced earlier in April by Gottheimer, as just one step in the process. So expect a lot more to come. Some bullet point plans from it:

  • Require operating system developers like Apple and Google to verify users’ ages when setting up a new device, rather than relying on self-reported ages.

  • Allow parents to set age-appropriate content controls from the start, including limiting access to social media, apps, and AI platforms.

  • Ensure that age and parental settings securely flow to apps and AI platforms, so content is tailored appropriately for children.

  • Prevent children from accessing harmful or explicit content - including inappropriate AI chatbot interactions - by creating a consistent, trusted standard across platforms.

Currently, the bill is only in the introductory stage so it hasn’t yet passed and become law, so if this is important to you in the US you may want to speak to your representatives.

Source [web-archive]

I am sorry, but isn’t it 99% not about “children protection” but general surveillance for everyone wrapped up in a “pretty” package that plays, again, on fears as the parenting and unforeseen future backed up with the “time-saving” features for those who are in a hurry within the same system?

Malus’s site says. “Our proprietary AI robots independently recreate any open source project from scratch. The result? Legally distinct code with corporate-friendly licensing. No attribution. No copyleft. No problems.”…

“Some licenses require you to contribute improvements back. Your shareholders didn’t invest in your company so you could help strangers,” Malus’s site says. “Is your legal team frustrated with the attribution clause? Tired of putting ‘Portions of this software…’ in your documentation? Those maintainers worked for free - why should they get credit?”

Source

I am sorry, but… F*CK YOU, Malus, and the inhuman “developers” of Malus, indeed.

Such a… f*cking… ineffable sorrow…
No… f*cking… words…

I see... Another "quick win" makes a little sense then too, sorry. This won't last enough, I believe, and may result in permanent distrust even. The person who believed you will eventually realize you lied to them, and why should they trust you in the future? Meaning, why start from a lie in the first place? A foundation built on a lie eventually collapses, and the people who trusted that lie are often the ones who get hurt the most. Since you clearly have a message people value, that is, current terrible privacy issues, why not give them a better start, an actual path with a reason to trust you, the purpose and idea, for the long run by carrying the truth instead?

Lemmy trolls... I've been into web-dev since 2007, I've been working with corporations who are processing high load traffic, including payment systems. I tell you that 80% of these work with PHP and have no major issues. Valve's Steam is PHP even, and still does work, right? Have you even considered Laravel, and Symfony? Optimizations as OpCode and Jit? It all works and is stable. Not only that, but it's easy to deploy and release since you don't have to compile it every single time. Depending on the team, the code is greatly organized, syntax is featureful and allows for both static and runtime/dynamic safety. You, @Skullgrid@lemmy.world? You might haven't yet worked in actual enterprise. You should get fundamental knowledge on the subject you raise your voice at. I am sorry, but please do invest some accountable time and actually read something about the subject, prior claiming people are idiots and don't do their own research of almost 40 years of life. PHP is a perfectly capable and freaking awesome language for almost any web-dev and is lovely to work with. Oh! You might as well ask your "vibes" about the trends/statistics around the globe at enterprise, make some comparisons, or well some valuable research etc. if you are not capable to achieve the same manually, considering your infant attitude to complex systems. You do you, indeed. P.S. We may wait now for copy-pasted or LLM-generated pros/cons, too, for a sudden "proof" no one asked for.

Of course, but it does not change anything in my view. It's satire now, but there are uncountable cases of awful serious that starts with a joke.
I hate them, and I will always hate it. I ABHOR everything about it.
So, F*CK them... f*ck then hard, and their f*cking awful "joke".

Of course they don't. Anyone actually accountable, I believe, have their own researches on the subjects done, and instantly notices trolling. We may wait now for copy-pasted or LLM-generated pros/cons, too, for a sudden "proof" no one asked for.

I am sorry, but I never use LLM for my words, and I try omitting LLM-generated/formatted articles myself when noticed, since I do also have heartache whenever I see anything such.

Meanwhile, it's also painful to constantly recently receive these "you act like AI", "you are a bot", "you use AI/LLM" etc. just because I've been trying to format my messages since at least 2010 keeping references with human finite priceless time invested into...
These recent comments devalue, defame, and basically disrespect you a human who just tries to keep it organized for others.

It's a dear sorrow since nowadays your attempts to stay accountable are getting ridiculed and devalued to void.

I am sorry... for my formatting that cause you any trouble... but what can I do? The world won't care, but some do still try formatting their words in public at least somehow, without these "lol", "kek"... and some hopefully proper punctuation.

Not to mention:
- LLM-looking "em-dashes" I removed from the source (e.g. origin's "...explicit content — including inappropriate...");
- Escaped list prefixes (i.e. \- instead of -) so to not cause Markdown render it with huge spaces between list items;
- Created a web-archived version and noted in the source reference line between "[]", just in case.

Yet, who cares, right? You likely didn't even notice.

These comments... make you feel empty, regretful, and sometimes cause a headache I got when I read your comment with 2 other people calling me a bot today. Such an awesome time to live, indeed.

Related:
- (Nor will use any LLM in my work, art, or research… I prefer people, communication, discoveries, effort, creativity, and human art…)

Will they then then replace everything with AI, gradually, including the calculator, image/video viewer, browser? No, I will never want AI in my machine pre-installed, even remotely. There are stable synthetic narrators already with no AI. I prefer deterministic and accurate. Those who like AI, may install AI. No, fudge it. Delete it dead.

It’s sorrowful to know you, or that “pirates”/people like you have guts to admit your sorrow on public. Piracy is never ever good unless for history/archiving, and still is questionable. You? You are a simple infant robber, a spoiled child, who stole money, or just did not pay people for their life work. A work on ineffably magnificent art…

Holy smokes… Freaking awesome! Of course… Programming is normally a human art… Programming is of human for human to automate machines… It is as any of people to be left in the infinite history, to learn from and improve accountably, too… Thank you very much for the marvel… art you do… There’s the following book I recall on the subject that is an essential for every accountable, astute, and respectful developer, artist, I believe. …a computer language is not just a way of getting a computer to perform operations but rather that it is a novel formal medium for expressing ideas about methodology. Thus, programs must be written for people to read, and only incidentally for machines to execute. …the essential material to be addressed by a subject at this level is not the syntax of particular programming-language constructs, nor clever algorithms for computing particular functions efficiently, nor even the mathematical analysis of algorithms and the foundations of computing, but rather the techniques used to control the intellectual complexity of large software systems. … Our traffic with the subject matter of this book involves us with three foci of phenomena: the human mind, collections of computer programs, and the computer. Every computer program is a model, hatched in the mind, of a real or mental process. These processes, arising from human experience and thought, are huge in number, intricate in detail, and at any time only partially understood. They are modeled to our permanent satisfaction rarely by our computer programs. Thus even though our programs are carefully handcrafted discrete collections of symbols, mosaics of interlocking functions, they continually evolve: we change them as our perception of the model deepens, enlarges, generalizes until the model ultimately attains a metastable place within still another model with which we struggle. The source of the exhilaration associated with computer programming is the continual unfolding within the mind and on the computer of mechanisms expressed as programs and the explosion of perception they generate. If art interprets our dreams, the computer executes them in the guise of programs! ~ Source: “Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs” (SICP; or “Wizard Book”) by Harold Abelson, Gerald Jay Sussman, Julie Sussman

Of course they do, absolutely.

If it helps/supports/carries a disabled/invalid miraculous Individual, Person, Human to express themselves better, communicate easier, feel themselves more humane and alive, please do install and try it!

Yet, at this point, I do not believe AI-driven tools for disability should be installed by default to everyone, as if suggesting all people are too disabled by default.

Healthy People should be proud and appreciate they are not, and do get yourself together, and do better. We deserve to be better.

Here, I do get what I mean, since I am myself physically mute, a car accident, which I rarely expose but recently mentioned:

  • gist.github.com/…/738ff60d2cab20ae35c02fd6d049904… (Lobsters staff ruined my reputation, do not respond, and I have no idea why…)

The mute trait is quite a challenge… and one of these is being constantly called out as “AI” or “bot” for my formatting or effort/time I invest into textual messages in hope to stay more social…

The most recent example at Lemmy:

  • lemmy.world/comment/26100133 (You’d think at these days, with so much of awful LLM/“AI”/noise, a dear humane attitude should prevail…)
