a while ago I made a bunch of unhinged requests to Amazon's shopping AI about things like "the best conceal carry holster for my dog" and I'm pleased to announce it's paid off

Does anyone want a free Oracle/Sun StorageTek SL3000 tape library? It currently has 10x T10000C tape drives to be able to take 5TB StorageTek T2 tapes, but can be swapped to take modern LTO drives.
Equipped with an HP StorageWorks 8/40 SAN Switch.
Free, near Seattle. Will need a liftgate truck.

We opened it up last night, letting us have a look at the survivable container, a metal capsule lined with some kind of cast phenolic resin.

"those just look like Dell PowerEdges, why are they ITAR?" you may ask
because they're repackaged as "security appliances" by a cyber security company that specializes in nuclear power
otherwise they're literally just Dell PowerEdges

@fuzzface@epsilon-ix.masto.host @cR0w@infosec.exchange they can yes, they're just Windows machines

It's a Sundstrand Data Control 109400-0001 Digital Flight Data Recorder manufactured July 30th 1970, with the serial number 1002. I suspect it never actually flew, or was assigned to a test aircraft due to the lack of certification number stamped on. It's roughy contemporary with the 747-100, which would have been entering production around that time here in the Seattle area.

two redboxes have been taken! claim one today!

@bees@infosec.exchange you could absolutely load in a custom inventory on it where everything is a mystery item! people have made modified software for it that even disables the need for the payment terminal

@ajroach42 we're not looking to sell them, just re-home them to somewhere that can use them! we rescued them for just the cost of a liftgate rental and aren't looking to make a profit flipping these
we were told that both work, but from poking around inside only one of them currently has a lamp module in it
I think this is realistically a one works with one for spare parts scenario
