@jzb@hachyderm.io Because there's not just random people with an LLM, there's people that know what they are doing, yet find it easier to have an agent do the manual task of writing the code. As I said, there are people that have difficulty doing the coding part, but the testing and the rest they can do without a problem. Its more nuanced than just random people using LLMs to generate code and then make PRs. The people at KDE did it right, no promoting LLMs, just good quality code regardless how it was written. @dansup@mastodon.social

@jzb@hachyderm.io People had to review code that was not generated by LLMs, its no different. That statement is invalid for that reason. Also, we got by without LLMS, yeah, and a lot of people were left out because they tried to get the hang of coding by hand and struggled. LLMs have opened up the possibility that people have never had to make things they have dreamed of but could never bring to life, and all these anti-AI extremists dismiss that, and its wrong. @dansup@mastodon.social

OK so I have managed to make a new NVDA addon for DECTalk that works with NVDA 2026.1+ and hopefully preserves compatibility with older NVDA versions.
Here's the link that will take you to the latest release, there's only one, because this is a new thing: https://github.com/alexoloopios/dectalk-nvda/releases/latest

My phone was acting up earlier on as if it was registering Ghost touches, then after trying the usual restarting and what not, I wondered if Bluetooth interference like my keyboard being on was affecting it, and somehow that was turned on without me realising lol, so it wasn’t Ghost touch issues, it was my Keyboard somehow being on and while in my bag random keys were being tapped.

I feel like the fediverse has too many anti-AI folks that those who actually use AI as a tool and not a replacement are getting shoved away.

@jonathan859@someplace.social If you're on about Quill, it is actually a useful tool, and its not a Mastodon client, it allows you to post, yes, but not read posts.

God forbid shops in the UK start banning Meta glasses, I'll gladly do what I can to sue the companies to the fucking ground if they start doing that!

@homegrown@social.growyourown.services @Luanti@floss.social I don't know if Luanti has any accessibility support, like for instance how with Minecraft you could set up an accessibility mod called Minecraft Access and it would read out everything using NVDA.

@dansup The only problem with outright banning AI contributions is that there are people that may wanna fix something like a button label for example, but they aren't a full Typescript dev, but they understand what needs to be done, and as long as they test the result thurroughly to make sure things work as intended, then that should be OK. As long as you understand the concepts, you shouldn't be forced to wright every single character of code manually, use AI as a tool, not the replacement.

@mewproj@fwoof.space But that shouldn't mean that DECTalk can never be on Testflite/AppStore. If the license holder or holders actually don't give a flying fuck, then there's no reason for Apple to reject it. I actually looked at the issues and noticed that this situation hasn't even been brought up, which I'm surprised at.

@zersiax@cupoftea.social Its like a lot of people don't know about the accessibility agents that Taylor made, well they don't know, but they need to know if they are gonna use AI for a lot of things. I've used those agents with Codex and boy it makes things work properly, none of this BS where the AI doesn't know jack shit about accessibility.

@mewproj@fwoof.space Well, with the original company defunked, there's no reason it couldn't work on Testflite/AppStore. from how things look in the official DECTalk repo the devs haven't bothered to take the time to choose a new license and have left the old license from 2003 in there. I've been wanting DECTalk on my iPhone for a while as Eloquence is just giving me odd issues recently, and when I tried to do it Sideloadly wouldn't detect my Apple ID and when I tried to do the normal install rather than the Apple ID it gave a try again dialog, then a fatal error, so I'm fucked 6 ways from Sunday lol.
