#afl As a neutral, one of the great grand finals.
Still wanted to see Freo get up, though.

@troberts@theblower.au That's very true, I have fond memories of crunching across the grass on frosty mornings on my way to school. Also Canberra has the sunlight returning earlier in the year than it does here.
At least I can tell people who grew up here that Melbourne doesn't have winter, just a long cool autumn that rolls straight into spring.

@troberts@theblower.au Yeah Tenet should be either top 5 or bottom 5, nothing in between.

@emmadavidson@aus.social As someone who grew up, and began a career, in Canberra I most definitely don't miss those winter mornings.

@44@defcon.social Christmas in July is definitely a thing here - but it's fairly niche, and most of us can't be bothered.
Christmas is a time of unstable weather, backyard cricket, days at the beach or the pool, and maybe waiting for the start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race.
Christmas when it's cold just feels wrong, y'know?

Reference point for my northern hemisphere viewers: it's the middle of winter here in Australia, and it's about 9°C outside right now.

@Heliograph@mastodon.au Good call Helio - each of us can only carry so much, at some point you have to find good things or you'll just give up trying to make a difference.

Weird.
I just heard him on the news at 0900 my time (UTC+11) saying that lots of countries have told him they're on the way to clean up his mess.

@talexb@fosstodon.org @kwazekwaze@mastodon.social I don't often find myself yelling at the car stereo when I'm listening to a podcast, but on this occasion I had some things to say (nobody was there to benefit from my insight, sadly)

@stilgherrian@eigenmagic.net Very cool. I remember watching for the Goulburn War Memorial tower on road trips as a kid, fun seeing people using it for the same purpose in the 30s.

None of my pics of them are as good as this, though!

@Heliograph@mastodon.au Crossing my fingers for you mate.
I've got a couple of missing teeth (childhood bike mishap) but I'm one of the fortunate few who can just rely on dentures; my dentist has told me I should consider myself lucky with that.
