Very considerate of all these French people speaking to each other in English with a French accent. #Monsterdon

Splitting up the young women and having them stay alone in their own rooms is surely a great idea that couldn't go awry. #Monsterdon

Neon! #Monsterdon

Warner also has a bogus Mid-Atlantic accent. I thought that accent had already died by the end of the fifties. #Monsterdon

The doctor can't be the the Bat, because he was doing that experiment when the Bat was prowling the house. And he doesn't look athletic enough. My guess is that Warner is the Bat. #Monsterdon

I'm sure it's intentional, but there's something pathetic about this incredibly tense fly hunt. #Monsterdon

Note they don't show him lighting the match. #Monsterdon

Nice reveal! #Monsterdon

So they don't even show us the tragic transformation. #Monsterdon

Roger Corman could really direct when he wanted to. #Monsterdon

Wow, the dream feels like 1920s/1930s German cinema #Monsterdon

Instantly cured of his eye sensistivity? #Monsterdon

Elizabeth Shepard is to Honor Blackman as Keira Knightley is to Natalie Portman. #Monsterdon

Wait, is this part fiction? Or did she really do this? Is it intentionally ambiguous? #Monsterdon

I guess he's left-handed if he can't write by hand. #Monsterdon

Quite a way to start a film, but I can't see how this ends up as The Fly. #Monsterdon

@strangefour@retro.pizza Shepard's voice is impressive, too. #Monsterdon

"Does the cat die?" Well, it's complicated. #monsterdon

They keep pushing the French thing, but this couple can't even pronounce each other's names properly. #Monsterdon

This feels almost like a Hitchcock film. Not exactly B-movie production values. #Monsterdon

It's really unusual for a film of this period to feature women so prominently, and not as eye candy. #Monsterdon

I guess she wasn't particularly attached to that cat, either. #Monsterdon

Fine looking leg. #Monsterdon

They went to the trouble of whiting out the text on that dial, but couldn't find paint in the same color as the background. #Monsterdon

LOL What the hell was that? Is it Halloween? #Monsterdon

Fantastic effects. This movie surpassed my expectations by light years. Thanks to @Taweret@timeloop.cafe and @ryan@social.miyaku.media as always! #monsterdon

So they shoe-horned Vincent Price into this movie even though his character is all but irrelevant. #Monsterdon

Yes, go up the hidden steps behind the broken mirror. What could possibly go wrong? #Monsterdon

The sunglasses are back, and somehow that's significant. #Monsterdon

II think she's already guessed what happened. #Monsterdon

They painted the fly's head white #Monsterdon

This is the only Price Poe adaptation that actually feels like Poe. So talky! #Monsterdon

Miss Corny's assistant bears an uncanny resemblance to Kate McKinnon. I can't shake the illusion that Kate is playing this role. #Monsterdon

@diazona@techhub.social You're not wrong.

@klu9@ohai.social So, some vibe-coded thing maybe?

Miss Corny didn't think to look behind the blueprint. For once the cop contributed something useful. #Monsterdon

He missed. The cop missed. Point blank. #Monsterdon

If you enjoyed The Tomb of Ligeia, I recommend reading the Wikipedia page about it. It seems the relative quality is largely due to the writer, Robert Towne, taking his job very seriously. It's also interesting that neither Corman nor Towne wanted Price, who was already 53 at the time. #Monsterdon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tomb_of_Ligeia

What, you're really going to leave him alone with her? #Monsterdon

/seriously, I love that head. It's a work of art. #Monsterdon

"You're probably wondering how I ended up in the belfry. Rather an amusing story actually." #Monsterdon

Cat atoms #monsterdon

I liked that abstract fire in the windows effect. #Monsterdon

Is this going to be like The Shining, where the good guy you expect to rescue the protagonist dies abruptly and unceremoniously? #Monsterdon

The whole ending made little sense, but generally one of the best Price movies or Corman movies I've seen. Thanks to @Taweret@timeloop.cafe and @ryan@social.miyaku.media as always. #Monsterdon

In these days, US television shows never showed a man and a woman sleeping in the same bed, even if they were married. I guess it's all right when it's two young conventionally attractive women. #Monsterdon

I think Corman's lost the plot line and is just thrashing around at this point. #Monsterdon

A Vincent Price character babysitting? Unless the child is Wednesday Addams, I find it difficult to picture. #Monsterdon

I never saw the Jeff Goldblum version and now I don't want to. I can't see how it could be better than or even as good as the original. #Monsterdon
